Senior Security Engineer

Saronic is seeking a talented Sr Security Engineer to help design, implement, and maintain our organization’s cyber security stack. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security controls and solutions across our products and systems. As a Senior Security Engineer, you will play a critical role in protecting us from and mitigating risks to our groundbreaking ASV technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage security controls for systems, networks, and applications in alignment with CMMC, Zero Trust, NIST, FIPS, and DoD directives.
• Conduct security risk assessments, vulnerability analyses, and threat modeling to proactively identify and mitigate potential risks.
• Integrate security measures into the full lifecycle of product development—from initial design through to production.
• Assist with incident response efforts, including detection, investigation, and mitigation of security incidents
• Monitor, analyze, and respond to security incidents, coordinating with cross-functional teams to manage and remediate threats.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including security protocols, policies, reference architectures and data flow diagrams.
• Act as a subject matter expert on cybersecurity within the organization, mentoring team members and providing technical guidance.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders to align cybersecurity practices with business goals and regulatory requirements.
• Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and trends to enhance our security posture and drive innovation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a security engineer, with 2+ years in a senior-level role.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in cybersecurity, preferably within the defense or autonomous systems sectors
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies
• Experience with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, email security gateway, CASB, SIEM, endpoint protection, SSE, native cloud security controls and encryption
• Proficiency in programming and scripting languages (e.g., Python, C/C++, Java)
• Familiarity with secure software development practices and methodologies
• Knowledge of network security, cloud security, and secure communication protocols
• Ability to convey complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance


• Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) or military industry projects and security requirements.
• Knowledge of autonomous systems or maritime technology.
