Systems Engineer

Work Requirements:

• The Contractor Team shall provide in-depth Tier 2 through Tier 4 level support and problem resolution for technology products and applications.

• The Contractor Team shall lead and perform engineering efforts in the areas of Windows and Linux servers, workstations, storage, and virtualization.

• The Contractor Team shall coordinate engineering projects including performing technical risk assessment, de-conflict implementations, and resolve technical questions or conflicts.

• The Contractor Team shall gather performance and utilization metrics from infrastructure components and proactively inform the Sponsor when thresholds are met.

• The Contractor Team shall perform moderately complex Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities with limited guidance.

• The Contractor Team shall provide advice and guidance on the most practical technical approach to meeting user requirements.

• The Contractor Team shall build and maintain desktop workstations and provide troubleshooting assistance and patching as needed.

• The Contractor Team shall provide oversight and maintenance to Windows Group Policy.

• The Contractor Team shall build and maintain Windows servers in an Amazon Web Service environment.

• The Contractor Team shall deploy and maintain configuration standards in accordance with the Sponsor’s security posture.

• The Contractor Team shall participate and brief at information systems architectural boards at the Group level.

• The Contractor team shall assist with project estimation, scheduling, and costing of cloud solutions.

• The Contractor team shall create system artifacts such as CONOPS, engineering guidance, and standards documentation.

• The Contractor team shall work in a 24 hour, 7 day (on-call rotation) a week environment providing in-depth Tier 2 and Tier 3 level support and problem resolution for technology products and applications.

• The Contractor team shall provide technical and strategic guidance to Sponsor personnel on the most appropriate cloud architecture to achieve a particular application’s goals.

• The Contractor team shall decompose customer requirements into technical solutions.

• The Contractor team shall include factors such as system requirements, system performance, and life cycle costs in requirements decomposition to determine the architectural impact of proposed changes.

Requirements

Required Technologies/Tools

Demonstrated hands on experience performing administration, troubleshooting, patching, and support of virtual infrastructure.

Demonstrated experience working with vendors on system troubleshooting.

Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining Active Directory, Domain Naming System (DNS), Distributed File System (DFS), and Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).

Demonstrated experience operating and windows maintaining Windows Group Policy.

Demonstrated experience supporting and maintaining accounts and account management expertise in a Windows environment.

Demonstrated experience building and maintaining Windows servers in Amazon Web Services.

Demonstrated experience authoring scripts with PowerShell, BASH, YAML, and Python.

Demonstrated experience supporting and operations and maintenance of infrastructure environments.

Demonstrated experience using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM).

Demonstrated experience managing requirements using ServiceNow application.

Demonstrated experience building and maintain Windows servers.

Demonstrated experience building, deploying and maintaining virtual servers using VM Ware.

Demonstrated experience using Active Directory suite of tools to manage computer objects, security groups, and access.

Demonstrated experience using Active Directory Sites and Services to configure subnets using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) to install software on servers and workstations and for troubleshooting software and patch failures.

Demonstrated hands-on experience deploying AWS services including S3, EC2, Elastic Load Balance (ELB), Auto Scaling Group (ASG), CloudWatch, and Simple Notification Service (SNS).

Demonstrated experience designing cloud infrastructure based on the functional or technical requirements of an application.

Demonstrated experience implementing, operating and maintaining Microsoft Azure environment.

Demonstrated experience forecasting cloud costs for proposed systems.

Demonstrated experience supporting Docker or Kubernetes.

Desired Technologies/Tools

Demonstrated hands on experience performing engineering, implementation, and troubleshooting of VMWare virtualization infrastructure

Demonstrated experience performing Hypervisor deployments

Demonstrated experience performing configuration and management of storage pools

Demonstrated experience performing configuration and management of virtual networks and servers and virtual workstations

Demonstrated experience explaining protocols, technical procedures and processes clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Demonstrated experience creating and presenting system documentation briefings to review and approval boards

Demonstrated experience performing Tier 1 through Tier 4 support, including both systems troubleshooting and incident tracking and management

Demonstrated hands on experience serving as an Engineering Lead,

Demonstrated hands on experience coordinating, scheduling, deconflicting, and resolving conflicts between IT engineering projects

Demonstrated experience working with VMWare Horizon VDI

Certifications: Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)

Certifications: Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)

Certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)

Certifications: Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Practitioner

Certifications: Microsoft Certified Professional + Internet (MCP+I)

Certifications: Brocade Certified Network Engineer (BCNE)

Certifications: Red Hat Certified Systems Administrator (RHCSA)
