At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Linux Systems Administrator, a typical day will include the following experience/duties:

 

Required

  • Strong experience with Linux
  • Experience with Window environments
  • Manages security solutions, doing basic network monitoring, making sure patches get rolled out and doing all the other ground-level security work in an office
  • Possess a current DoD 8570.01 compliant certification for IAM Level I, e.g. Security + w/CE
  • Experience with vulnerability scanning tools such as ACAS, Nessus and SCAP
  • Ability to maintain and monitor firewalls and other network defense technologies and detect abnormal behaviors 
  • Knowledge of incident response procedures
  • Knowledge of intrusion detection and prevention systems, and ability to recognize attack and network breaches 
  • Apply software patches to operating systems and applications
  • Implement computer network security defenses
  • Assess a computer system's security vulnerabilities using appropriate resources
  • Follow data backup and restore procedures
  • Monitor networks for security breaches and analyze network traffic
  • Provide network security guidance on critical vulnerabilities
  • Help, implement and design verification test plans at system level 
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Strong experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)  
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Bachelor's degree (in Computer Science or related field)
  • Current TS/SCI with CI Poly or higher

Desired

  • Information Systems Security Expert (ISSE) – RMF experience
  • Experience C++, and Python
  • Digital Signals Processing experience
  • SQL experience
  • Version Control Software (eg SVN, Git)
  • Issue Tracking Software (eg JIRA, Redmine, Trello)
  • Experience with Test Automation and Continuous Integration
  • Experience with MATLAB
  • Experience with Solid Works
  • Experience with Java, Javascript and/or other scripting skills
