RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) is seeking a passionate and skilled RF Cyber Research Engineer to contribute to the research and development of next-generation capabilities in the cyber and electromagnetic warfare (EW) domain. This role spans a range of exciting and impactful projects, from algorithm and technique development to software integration for mission-critical systems.

As an RF Cyber Research Engineer, you will work at the intersection of signal processing, RF systems engineering, cybersecurity, and software development to tackle complex challenges related to EW, radar electronic protection (EP), and electronic support measures (ESM). The ideal candidate possess strong technical expertise and a problem-solving mindset, with the ability to rapidly prototype solutions in dynamic and collaborative environments.

BBN solves challenging Cyber/EW type problems of high importance to our customers in the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, and Industry. Our team specializes in developing cutting-edge  technologies by combining a fundamental understanding of modern radar and wireless communications system with facilities to conduct advanced research and development via modeling, simulation, experimentation, test, and analysis.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement innovative algorithms and techniques for RF and cyber/EW systems.
  • Conduct rapid prototyping of software solutions using MATLAB, Python, and C/C++.
  • Perform signal processing and analysis to support mission systems.
  • Contribute to radar EP and ESM research and capability development.
  • Apply software engineering practices to integrate research outputs into operational tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to solve challenging problems and deliver actionable results.
  • Participate in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze data, test new capabilities, and perform demonstrations.
  • Overnight travel required for certain projects.

Qualifications you Must Have

  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Ph.D., MS plus 3 years, or BS plus 5 years of relevant experience in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Strong proficiency in MATLAB, Python, and C/C++.
  • Solid foundation in RF signal processing and algorithm development.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and apply complex technical concepts.
  • Execute responsibilities with minimal review or supervision.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.

Qualifications We Prefer - Familiar with all, Expert in some

  • Active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Experience conducting research and publishing findings.
  • Knowledge of radar systems and electronic protection techniques.
  • Knowledge of wireless communications systems.
  • Experience working on technical teams on advanced R&D programs (e.g., DARPA, IARPA, AFRL, ONR research projects).
  • Experience with one or more of the following:
  • Reverse engineering.
  • Statistics and machine learning.
  • Operating System internals.
  • Software-defined radio.
  • Assembly programming and knowledge of computer architectures.

The salary range for this role is 90,000 USD - 182,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
