Proposal Writer - Information Technology & Cybersecurity

We have an opening for a full-time Writer - Information Technology & Cybersecurity to join our talented, dynamic team in support of a large Federal Government customer.

Position Overview: As a Writer, you will play a crucial role in developing compelling written work for our company. Your ability to collaborate with technical subject matter experts within the company, conduct independent research, and leverage generative AI tools will be essential in crafting persuasive narratives that showcase our capabilities and past performance to our customers and business partners. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, particularly when the company is working on a proposal, while also contributing to marketing materials and boilerplate content at other times.

Key Responsibilities:

• Proposal Development: Write and edit proposals in response to Federal Government solicitations, ensuring clarity, coherence, and alignment with customer requirements.
• Collaboration: Interview subject matter experts to extract valuable insights to summarize content effectively.
• Research: Conduct independent research on relevant topics, trends, and best practices in information technology and cybersecurity to enhance proposal quality.
• AI Utilization: Employ generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, to streamline writing processes and improve content creation efficiency.
• Storytelling: Craft compelling narratives that highlight our company’s strengths, differentiators, and relevant past performance.
• One-voicing: Combine content from multiple writers to synthesize a single coherent story.
• Content Creation: Develop marketing materials, company past performance write-ups, and boilerplate proposal content during off-peak times.
• Create graphical concepts to enhance a story and collaborate with graphic designers to turn the ideas into compelling graphics.
• Compliance: Ensure all proposals comply with Federal guidelines and are submitted on time.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in proposal reviews and provide constructive feedback to improve proposal processes and content quality.

Requirements

• A degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred, but we care more about your actual ability to write than where you went to school.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members. The ability to interview technical subject matter experts and ask good questions is essential. A background in journalism could be an advantage because of your experience in drawing out information from people you interview.
• Previous experience in proposal writing for Federal Government contracts, ideally in IT and cybersecurity, is preferred, but your industriousness and capacity to adapt to new environments is even more important.
• Strong technical acumen and ability to grasp complex technical concepts quickly. Ability to translate newly acquired knowledge into compelling written content.
• Excellent storytelling and persuasive writing skills.
• Proficiency with generative AI tools or the willingness and ability to incorporate into your learning and writing workflow.
• Self-motivated with strong research skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under tight and sometimes unexpected deadlines and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to work independently and remotely for long stretches of time and to set deadlines for yourself.
