POSITION SUMMARY:

The Vehicle Cybersecurity Engineering Summer Student will support completion of engineering project for the on-going implementation and establishment of vehicle cybersecurity best practices within the New Flyer and MCI business units.  Reporting to the Engineering Lead, the position will help to develop and implement our vehicle cybersecurity to be in line with ISO standards as well as other cybersecurity features as needed and identified for both internal and external customer requirements.

Requirements

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Complete assigned vehicle cybersecurity design assignments in support of cybersecurity development projects
  • Coordinate own tasks to ensure deadlines are met per project schedule and applicable lead times
  • Check Engineering Documents, Instructions to Service, and other documents as applicable
  • Collaborate with engineering design teams and deliver cyber security work products while also aiding, guiding, and supporting to ensure they are actioned
  • Conduct effective communication, cooperation, and information flow with other departments and key NFI Group contacts
  • Participate in Engineering and other meetings to review issues
  • Report weekly on status including completed and outstanding work

 

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Relevant degree or similar technical qualifications as they pertain to vehicle cybersecurity or cybersecurity best practices in general
  • Background knowledge of electrical and electronics including the serial communication networks protocols
  • Knowledge in cybersecurity engineering, threat analysis, penetration testing and risk assessment would be considered as an asset
  • Knowledge in regulations/standards (SAE/ISO) and associated regulatory frameworks such as ISO/SAE 21434, SAE 3061 and knowledge of UNECE reg 155 and 156 would be considered an asset but not essential
  • Knowledge of authentication and encryption techniques would be considered as an asset
  • Knowledge and experience in wireless connectivity (4G, 5G, WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth, etc.) preferred
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
