The opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Network Engineer with a background in working in a virtual Infrastructure environment to join our NTCSS infrastructure support team in Norfolk VA. The selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks and activities related to the design, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's computer networks. The ideal candidate will ensure the stability, security, and efficiency of the network infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement network systems, including LAN, WAN, and wireless networks
  • Configure and maintain network hardware such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise
  • Implement network security measures and ensure compliance with industry standards
  • Perform regular network maintenance and upgrades
  • Develop and maintain network documentation, including network diagrams and standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of network systems with other infrastructure components
  • Conduct capacity planning and performance tuning to optimize network efficiency
  • Implement and manage VPNs, QoS, and traffic shaping technologies
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff
  • Stay current with emerging network technologies and industry best practices
  • Participate in on-call rotations for after-hours support


Qualifications:

Required:

  • US Citizen
  • Must have a secret clearance (or interim) and must be able to obtain a T5 investigation clearance
  • DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification or higher (ex. CompTIA Security+, CASP, CISSP)
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role
  • Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, OSPF, BGP, etc.)
  • Proficiency in configuring and managing Cisco networking equipment
  • Experience with network monitoring and management tools
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)


Desired :

  • Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE)
  • Experience with software-defined networking (SDN) and network automation tools
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Knowledge of network security best practices and tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM)
  • Experience with VoIP and unified communications systems
  • Understanding of IPv6 implementation and migration strategies
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently
  • Project management experience

The proposed salary range for this position is:

$68,400-$143,700
