Job Scope

This Security Solution Architect role will be closely aligned to and work directly with the DSG CISO and their security organization.  This teammate will be hands-on and collaborate with product engineering and foundational tech teams to design, build, and deliver security solutions and features to mature DSG enterprise applications and capabilities.  Direct experience with designing and building security architectures leveraging public cloud technologies, containers, distributed edge, enterprise, data, and Third-Party SaaS platforms is desired.  This resource will review engineering solutions and apply design recommendations horizontally across Enterprise solutions and vertically across foundational technology stacks to align with DSG Security standards, technologies, and reference architectures.


As the Security Solution Architect, you will:

  • Support the CISO and the security organization in establishing, promoting, implementing, and enforcing security standards, security tool integration, and security reference architectures with design and engineering teams.

  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to understand security requirements and translate them into technical solutions and experiences.

  • Work closely with development teams to promote a security-first culture and integrate security into the SDLC enabling us to deliver new experiences and capabilities.

  • Partner with other architects across various domains and engineers to ensure alignment of security solutions with overall DSG Tech strategy.

  • Research and evaluate emerging security technologies, threats, and mitigation patterns.

  • Ensure the proposed solutions are designed to scale and meet the foundational technology guiderails of platforms, data governance, compliance controls, reliability & performance, and cost management.

  • Deliver artifacts to assess business & systems capability impacts, publish current & transitional systems design diagrams, and evaluate non-functional requirements for foundational tech alignment & planning.

  • Maintain technology design risks, impacts, and dependency assessments to support the delivery of recommended solutions and technology roadmap planning.

  • Recommend and deliver security policies and/or reference architectures to drive engineering enablement, scaled adoption, and measures to enforce alignment to DSG Tech security guidelines.

To be successful in this role, experience and soft skills in several areas are desired:

  • Ability to build an opinionated design through collaboration and bring those along in your journey.

  • Experience in designing, engineering, and operating with a security lens in environments like Azure, Kubernetes, and highly distributed edge locations. Understand the domain along with the threat landscape.

  • Deep understanding of current security ecosystems and identify gaps to close a risk. This can be technology, process, or services.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Experience in the retail industry is a plus.

  • A passion for innovation and a desire for continuous learning about emerging technologies.

Ideal skillset includes:

  • Hands on experience in security engineering and architecture

  • Relevant Security certifications such as:

    • General Security – (ISC)2 CISSP, ISACA CISM, any GIAC, or equivalent

    • Cloud and Cloud Security – Microsoft (Azure Security Engineer, Cybersecurity Architect Expert, or Azure Identity and Access Administrator), Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK), (ISC)2 Certified Cloud Security Professional – CCSP, or equivalent

    • Security Products – CrowdStrike, Palo Alto, Proofpoint, and similar

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated experience in developing security architectures & solutions that span edge, core, and cloud.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders

  • Ability to collaborate with teams across multiple departments and functions

  • Ability to publish professional architecture artifacts and documentation

  • Ability to provide security recommendations to technology teams

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's Degree or equivalent level preferred in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field

  • General Experience: Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level. (Over 6 years to 10 years)

  • Managerial Experience: Experience of general supervision of more junior colleagues (7 to 12 months)

Targeted Pay Range: $95,200.00 - $158,800.00. This is part of a competitive total rewards package that could include other components such as: incentive, equity and benefits. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations.
