The purpose of the Data Protection and Compliance Manager is to ensure the protection, compliance, ethical and responsible use of data at PwC Canada across the data lifecycle. This job is responsible for supporting the development of data practices, policies and standards to align and comply with internal and external data policies and standards, in partnership with multiple stakeholders.
This role will report to the Data Protection and Compliance Manager principal in the Data Trust and Governance pillar, within the Chief Data and Analytics Office. The role will enrich data governance practices with protection and ethical considerations, ensuring compliance with both internal policies / standards and external regulations. This integration is crucial in a data-driven landscape where the ethical and responsible use of data is as important as its quality. Cross-functional collaboration is paramount as we work closely with legal, risk, privacy, technology and multiple other stakeholders.
Major Responsibilities
Strategy & Framework Development: Design and establish a firm-wide data quality strategy, framework, policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data integrity and consistency within the Data Quality team.
Implementation and Monitoring: Implement data quality practices and monitor compliance with established standards. Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as necessary.
Data Governance: Collaborate within the Data Governance team to align data quality standards with overall data governance policies and procedures.
Data Quality Assessment: Conduct regular data quality assessments to identify and address data quality issues across data domains. Develop and maintain data quality metrics and reporting mechanisms.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with stakeholders across the organization to ensure data quality standards are understood and adhered to. Provide guidance and support for data quality improvement initiatives.
Technology: Lead and support the implementation of data quality technology implementations in collaboration with the Data Architecture and Engineering team.
Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on data quality best practices and the importance of data integrity with the Data Quality Manager.
Minimum years experience required & specialized knowledge
Minimum of 5 years of experience in data management, data quality, or a related field.
Proven track record of developing and implementing data quality practices and standards.
Experience working within a Data Trust and Governance team is highly desirable.
Technical skills
Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices.
Proficiency in data quality tools and technologies, such as Informatica, Talend, or similar platforms.
Familiarity with data governance frameworks and standards.
Knowledge of database management systems.
Ability to analyze complex data sets and identify data quality issues.
Required Knowledge/Skills
Oral and written proficiency in English required
