Job Summary
This position develops and maintains information security services and operations. Primary activities include assisting in the development of information security services; daily operational monitoring of security vulnerabilities, events, and incidents; performing risk assessments; and collaborating with functional and technical staff to identify and document security requirements.
The Information Security Analyst will be required to work independently and possess the experience to be proficient in performing work assignments such as inventory of campus confidential data and other high-risk information assets. In addition, this position demonstrates analytical methods and procedures in independently applying technical judgment to standard and nonstandard applications and systems, solving a wide range of problems and developing practicable and thorough solutions, and using effective communication and listening skills.
This position is eligible for remote work pursuant to Cal Poly’s Telecommuting and Remote Work Guidelines and the CSU policy requiring that all work be performed within the State of California.
Department Summary
Information Technology Services (ITS) is a fast-moving team that is responsible for helping Cal Poly achieve academic excellence through developing and implementing learning, teaching, and administrative solutions which leverage technology that align with strategic goals and objectives. - Professional information security certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) or equivalent.
- Experience performing forensic analysis.
- Experience responding to security audits.
- Ability to conduct information security risk assessment.
- Knowledge of relational or key-value database engines such as Oracle, MySQL, SQLServer.
- Demonstrated experience using a common scripting language (e.g. Perl, Python, PowerShell)
- Experience analyzing security event logs utilizing a SIEM, such as Splunk.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Salary and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Range: $95,000 - $120,000 Per Year
Classification Range: $61,896 - $152,760 Per Year
