The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.

Designated as DHP’s Information Security Officer (ISO), this position is responsible for developing, implementing and managing the agency’s information security program and risk management efforts in accordance with Commonwealth of Virginia information security standards and emerging trends.

Minimum Qualifications

■ Ability to communicate information security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff.
■ Possess ability to work collaboratively with others.
■ Ability to identify and respond to Cyber Security threats and mitigate risks.
■ Extensive experience with information security including security policy knowledge and design, risk management activities like Business Impact Analysis (BIA), Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP), risk assessments, and security audits.
■ Knowledge of security in a government environment where a third party performs infrastructure services.
■ Knowledge of and experience with Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions.
■ Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
■ Demonstrated ability to use security monitoring tools, security baselining tools, and Microsoft Office.

Additional Considerations

- Previous experience as an Information Security Officer or Information Security Analyst.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) preferred or the ability to become Commonwealth of Virginia certified within one year.
