Scientific Systems unleashes AI-powered autonomy across space, air, land, and sea for collaborative defense and dominance.The Director of Information Technology role will provide effective management for Scientific Systems’ Information Technology (IT) team and systems and align critical business needs. They will Lead SSCI’s IT team to manage and administer SSCI’s IT infrastructure, networks, hardware, software, security, and applications to support business operations across a multi-site scientific/technical computing and software product development environment. This role will be responsible for safeguarding company information systems by designing, implementing, monitoring, and maintaining the security of IT solutions, data and infrastructure. The Director of IT will support IT compliance with SSCI cybersecurity policies, risk assessments, and incident response as needed to meet CMMC and other contractual, legal or regulatory cybersecurity requirements.
Essential Functions:
- Formulate IT management strategies to maintain the functionality, security and accessibility of IT framework and systems.
- Identify and recommend new technology solutions including leadership of planning and implementation of IT projects and initiatives.
- Provide IT support for secure/restricted computing facilities and infrastructure.
- Achieve and maintain IT systems’ cybersecurity compliance in accordance with U.S. Government CMMC/DFARS (NIST 800-171, 800-53) cybersecurity regulations for work on U.S. Government contracts.
- Oversee implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery processes, including service level agreements (SLAs), recovery point, and recovery time objectives (RPO/RTO).
- Stay current with the best practices and innovation in information technology.
- Establish and manage IT department goals and objectives, budgets, schedules, and priorities.
- Develop and lead the IT team consistently with the company’s growth, including hiring, day-to-day task coordination and management, mentorship, and career development.
- Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods of time
- May require the ability to push/pull/lift up to 15 pounds

- Must be able to obtain and maintain a United States DOD Security Clearance.
Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- 15+ years’ relevant experience in Enterprise-level Information Technology Management in a progressive, scientific, technical, and software development business environment
- 5+ years’ experience in an IT leadership role managing a small team of IT professionals supporting a scientific and technical computing/software engineering environment
- 7+ years’ experience building and managing multi-site LAN/WAN networks and data centers using technologies such as enterprise servers/storage, VPNs, and virtualization
- 10+ years’ experience managing both Windows and Linux computers in a mixed scientific, technical, and business computing environment, using centralized management tools
- 5+ years’ experience implementing cybersecurity compliance and information security in a compartmentalized scientific/technical R+D and business computing environment.
- 5+ years’ experience supporting collaborative software engineering teams using both Windows (Pro and Enterprise) and Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, RedHat) development environments
- 3+ years’ experience implementing business continuity and disaster recovery systems
- Experience with administration of onsite and cloud enterprise data and collaboration tools, including Exchange, Confluence/JIRA/Bitbucket, Oracle, Salesforce, and SharePoint
- Experience with DevOps and related CI/CD software development environments (Docker, Kubernetes, containerized software integration and test environments)
- Prior experience presenting department goals, priorities and results to senior leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
- CISSP certification or similar Cybersecurity Administration certification
- CompTIA Network+ or similar Network Administration certification
- Solaris or similar Unix and Windows Server Administration certification
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to identify and creatively solve complex problems
- Ability to execute logical reasoning and decision-making skills
