Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in relevant technical field, to include:
    • Knowledge and deployment of networks with fiber connectivity
    • Familiarity with tap design and impacts on fiber networks, such as light loss attenuation
  • This position requires DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II certifications:

    • Must have one of the following security certifications: CSEC, Security+, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP

Desired Skills

  • Demonstrated experience with implementing network routing/switching infrastructures that utilize fiber connectivity
  • Experience with analyzing such networks for appropriate tap locations for network security tools, both to meet data requirements for the tools while also ensuring that the underlying fiber connectivity remains functional
  • Experience with design, testing and configuration of network routing/switching capabilites and/or network security devices (FW, IPS) is a plus
  • Broad and in-depth experience with cybersecurity engineering and general systems engineering principles
  • Familiarity with technical writing, with respect to technical system documentation, testing methodologies, requirements analysis and test reports
  • Have experience utilizing DISA STIGs to harden and secure network and network security devices
  • Knowledge of the RMF process and supporting deliverables is a plus
  • Have design, testing and validation experience on DoD-deployed systems
  • Have a solid understanding of current operating system security design best practices
  • A network certification (such as Cisco CCNA or equivalent) is highly encouraged

Description

As a member of the NS IPT SHARKCAGE Engineering Team the Fiber Network Engineer will primarily provide engineering analysis, testing and evaluation support, and verifying DCO capabilities in support of SHARKCAGE Build 2.  

  • Installing, configuring and maintaining SHARKCAGE lab components related to network routing/switching, network security and tap/tap aggregation
  • Evaluating installation sites for suitable tap points for fiber connected systems, and calculating light loss attenuation to ensure proper signal integrity between existing network components
  • Assisting with site support as needed for deployed SHARKCAGE systems with respect to network and tap capabilities
  • Assisting with site installations as needed for new SHARKCAGE deployments or upgrades
