Job DescriptionThe Director of Security Operations at VillageMD will lead and manage an established Security Operations Center (SOC), overseeing SOC functions, incident response, and managing security engineers responsible for security tools and technologies. This role is critical to protect organizational assets and sensitive information by monitoring and analyzing security incidents, ensuring proactive defenses, and leading response efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct, oversee, and continuously improve the Security Operations Center (SOC), incorporating people, processes, and technology to enhance security monitoring, detection, analysis, and response.
- Develop, implement, and refine an incident response program to manage and escalate security incidents promptly, collaborating with relevant business units for validation and investigation.
- Monitor threat intelligence sources to identify potential risks and develop proactive strategies to minimize the impact of evolving security threats.
- Manage security engineers, providing guidance on tool selection, deployment, and maintenance to ensure the organization's security infrastructure remains resilient and responsive.
- Elevate the SOC program by optimizing monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response to support industry-leading cybersecurity standards.
- Provide strong leadership, defining and implementing a streamlined approach to continuous security monitoring and response, aligned with best practices.
- Lead efforts to build, train, and grow the SOC team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
- Manage vendor relationships, allocated budget, contract requirements, and service level agreements.
- Establish key performance indicators and operational metrics to communicate effectiveness of the team and identify areas for improvement

Qualifications
- Proven experience building and scaling a successful Security Operations program, ideally within a healthcare or technology-driven organization.
- Experience selecting, implementing, and managing managed security service providers in a 24x7 context.
- 10+ years in Security Operations, with a strong background in team management and SOC leadership.
- Demonstrated success in process optimization across functional areas and leading cross-functional projects.
- Deep understanding of security across end-point technologies, applications, and data center hosting.
- Ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to achieve strategic security objectives.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CySA+, GSOC).
- Experience in highly regulated environments, (e.g. Healthcare, Financial Services, Critical Infrastructure).
This is an exempt position. The base compensation range for this role is $159,000 to $220,000. At VillageMD, compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. The selected candidate will be eligible for a valuable company benefits plan, including health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and access to a 401k plan.
