Brown & Brown Insurance is seeking an experienced Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead our Technology Solutions team in our pursuit to be the leading global provider of insurance solutions. This role will embody and advance our company culture built upon integrity, innovation and delivering superior capabilities. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CIO will oversee Technology leadership, building a strong team while driving key business decisions and strategy, ensuring that technology aligns with our culture and our global business goals. This executive role focuses on customer-centric solutions, delivering business impacting innovations, driving digital transformation, optimizing technology infrastructure, ensuring compliance with regulations and safeguarding data security. The CIO will also ensure scalability and operational efficiency in the dynamic insurance landscape that aligns with the needs of the business.

This position requires a proven track record of strategic thinking, leading a diverse team, operational expertise, and strong business acumen with a forward-looking innovative mindset to foster agile technology platforms.  The right candidate will be an innovative business partner with exceptional people-leadership skills, strong collaboration skills, a results-driven mindset, value for service operating mentality and will serve as a champion for our distinct culture.  The candidate will need to have proven M&A experience and have operated on a global basis.
 

How You Will Contribute:

  • Leadership of a Global Technology Team: Foster a results-driven culture by implementing clear expectations, performance reviews, and continuous improvement strategies that enhance technology service delivery and responsiveness.  Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global technology team equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving digital, customer and product landscape.  Promote continuous learning and our Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging (DIB) journey.

  • Digital Transformation & AI Innovation: Lead digital transformation efforts by leveraging emerging technologies to enhance revenue growth, customer experience, efficiency, scalability, and security with a value for service and customer obsession focus.  Oversee the continuous modernization of systems and platforms. Drive the thoughtful adoption of AI and automation to help grow revenues, optimize business processes, improve decision making, and create competitive advantages. Ensure innovation aligns with business goals, delivering measurable improvements in revenue growth, productivity, margins, service delivery, and market responsiveness. Promote the availability and use of data analytics across the organization to drive business insights and decision-making.

  • Strategic Technology Leadership & Customer Focus: Drive a customer-centric technology strategy, ensuring technology platforms and services meet the evolving needs of internal and external customers. Accelerate workforce digital acumen. Identify and assess emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge. Collaborate with the executive team to set strategic priorities and goals for technology initiatives.

  • Mergers & Acquisitions: Conduct due diligence on prospective seller technology platforms/operating models, identifying integration needs, developing integration plans including merging of data and applications, ensuring smooth integration and assimilation with our technology vision post-acquisition.

  • Technology Infrastructure & Operations: Refine an enterprise architecture that supports the business growth aspirations on a global basis. Oversee the technology infrastructure, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability. Lead initiatives to streamline technology processes and reduce operational bottlenecks, ensuring fast and cost-effective technology execution as best practices.

  • Risk Management & Compliance: Refine and enforce global technology governance frameworks to mitigate operational and compliance risks. Ensure adherence to industry regulations and work with legal, compliance, and audit teams. Promote a culture of security awareness and proactive risk management across the organization.   Collaborate with Chief Information Security Officer to ensure compliance with global data protection laws and maintain robust cybersecurity protocols.

  • Technology Trends & Industry Insights: Stay ahead of emerging technology trends in the insurance and financial services industries. Implement cutting-edge solutions to maintain a competitive edge and prepare for future market shifts.

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Refine and then communicate the company’s technology vision, strategy, and performance to the company, board of directors, and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 15 years of global technology leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams (internal and external) and executing large-scale technology evolutions within fast-growing insurance or financial services organizations.

  • Executive experience developing and implementing global technology strategies and platforms that align with business objectives across diverse regions.

  • Demonstrated M&A technology leadership contributing to complex due diligence, stakeholder analysis, budget forecasts and integration strategy and execution.

  • Experience with Insurtech and cutting-edge technologies such as blockchain, AI, machine learning, digital product development, and cloud computing in an insurance context.

  • Robust understanding of network security, endpoint security, identity and access management (IAM), data encryption, threat intelligence, incident response, and vulnerability management. Ability to effectively convey cybersecurity risks and mitigation plans to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Strong knowledge of the financial services/insurance business, regulatory frameworks and standards and a strong understanding of regional compliance issues in insurance.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is preferred.

  • Risk Management and Cybersecurity: Strong understanding of risk management, cybersecurity, and technology compliance within a global regulatory environment, including managing security incidents and implementing effective security solutions.
