Regulation and Compliance Lead

Why the role matters;

Vonage has established a Data Governance Office (DGO) to drive and maintain effective data governance across the organization. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regulation and Compliance Lead to join this team. This role will be crucial in supporting operational data governance and ensuring our data practices comply with all relevant regulations. The role will report to the Data Governance Lead.

The Regulation and Compliance Lead will be responsible for implementing policies, monitoring the regulatory landscape, interpreting compliance requirements, and implementing data governance controls to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations. This role will work closely with legal, compliance, and IT teams to assess and mitigate compliance risks. The ideal candidate possesses deep knowledge of data governance principles, policy creation, regulatory frameworks, and compliance processes.

What you will do;

  • Regulatory Monitoring: Monitor and track changes in data-related regulations and industry standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, etc.).
  • Compliance Assessments: Conduct compliance assessments and gap analyses to identify areas where data governance practices need improvement.
  • Policy Development: Develop and maintain data governance policies and procedures that comply with applicable regulations and organizational standards.
  • Control Implementation: Work with IT and business teams to implement data governance controls and processes to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Compliance Training: Develop and deliver data governance compliance training programs for employees.
  • Audits and Reporting: Prepare for and support internal and external audits of data governance compliance. Develop compliance reports for senior management and regulatory agencies.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with legal, compliance, and IT teams to ensure a consistent approach to data governance and compliance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on the latest regulations and best practices in data governance and compliance, and continuously improve the data governance framework.
  • Legal Frameworks: Contribute to the development of information security frameworks, governance/risk management tools and the IT policies and procedures.

What you will bring;

  • Deep understanding of data governance principles, regulatory frameworks, and compliance processes.
  • Proven experience in data privacy regulations.
  • Experience in conducting compliance assessments and implementing data governance controls.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, ever-evolving regulatory and corporate environment.
  • Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM, or CIPT are a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Compliance, Information Management, or related field.

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in data governance, compliance, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience working in a regulatory compliance role.
