Reports to Director – Markets Technology Services

The Associate Director for US Technology is a critical leadership role, both within Markets Technology Services and US Markets, serving as the primary technology partner for the US business. This individual will provide strategic guidance across Private Equity (PE), Private Credit (PC), Real Assets (RA), and Client Solutions, while also ensuring the seamless delivery and support of business-critical applications. Acting as the most senior Group IT representative in the US, the role balances global strategies with local needs, ensuring alignment with the Group’s vision for technology scalability, efficiency, and excellence.

A key focus of the role is designing and delivering technical solutions to meet the needs of US clients, providing thought leadership and hands-on execution to support client success. The role also champions the consistent use of Group-aligned systems, technology, and processes to drive operational efficiencies while accommodating local business requirements.

This position requires a dynamic leader with 10+ years of experience in technology leadership, a proven track record in delivering client-facing solutions, and the ability to balance strategic oversight with operational execution.

Key responsibilities:

Technology Partnership and Strategy:

  • Partner with US business leaders to align technology initiatives with strategic objectives across PE, PC, RA, and Client Solutions.
  • Develop and execute a technology roadmap that drives innovation, scalability, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure technology decisions and implementations align with Group-wide standards while meeting the specific needs of the US business.
  • Identify opportunities for technology-driven value creation, operational efficiencies, and improved client outcomes.

IT Leadership and Representation:

  • Serve as the senior IT representative in the US, acting as the primary escalation point for all IT-related matters, including workplace IT and enterprise applications.
  • Act as the key conduit between the US business and Group IT teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration across enterprise apps, cloud platforms, data functions, and InfoSec.
  • Represent the US business in global technology initiatives and forums, advocating for local needs while supporting Group objectives.

Data Management and Integrations:

  • Oversee data integration and reporting efforts, ensuring seamless data flows between enterprise applications (e.g., eFront, Yardi, Medius, Viewpoint) and client-facing platforms.
  • Champion data governance, accuracy, and security, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and Group policies.
  • Promote the adoption of APIs, middleware solutions, and master data management practices to streamline operations and enhance reporting capabilities.

Innovation and Adoption:

  • Continuously identify and evaluate emerging technologies in data management, integrations, and client-facing solutions that can differentiate Aztec Group in the market.
  • Champion innovative approaches to leverage existing applications and introduce new tools that enhance efficiency, scalability, and client satisfaction.

Client-Facing Technical Solution Design:

  • Act as a trusted technology advisor to clients, engaging directly to understand their requirements and challenges.
  • Design and deliver bespoke technical solutions, leveraging existing systems and technologies while addressing unique client needs.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure the seamless implementation of client solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for client-related technology challenges, ensuring timely and effective resolution.

Consistency and Scalability:

  • Drive the adoption of Group-aligned systems, processes, and technologies to achieve operational consistency and scale efficiencies.
  • Champion the use of Centre’s of Excellence (CoE) and global best practices, tailoring them to fit local business requirements.
  • Lead the identification and resolution of inefficiencies, ensuring continuous improvement in system and process performance.

Operational Excellence:

  • Monitor application performance, ensuring availability, security, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Define and track KPIs for system success, measuring impact on operational efficiency, data quality, and client satisfaction.
  • Oversee incident management and root cause analysis, driving continuous improvement in service delivery.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor technical teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide strategic direction and professional development opportunities for team members, ensuring alignment with the Group’s goals.
  • Inspire and influence cross-functional teams in a matrixed environment to deliver high-impact results.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal teams, bridging the gap between technology and business by understanding their data and application needs.
  • Support pre-sales and onboarding activities by providing subject matter expertise on data integration, reporting, and technical capabilities.

Skills, knowledge, expertise:

  • Data Management Expertise: Deep understanding of data governance, quality, and lifecycle management, with experience implementing master data management (MDM) practices.
  • Integration Knowledge: Proficient in managing APIs, middleware, and data pipelines to enable seamless system interoperability and data sharing.
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to align technology and data initiatives with business objectives, translating complex requirements into actionable roadmaps.
  • Technical Expertise: Familiarity with application architecture, cloud technologies, and reporting solutions, with a focus on financial services systems (e.g., eFront, Yardi, Viewpoint, Fenergo).
  • Deep understanding of IT service delivery, including enterprise applications, workplace IT, cloud platforms, and data integration.
  • Strong knowledge of data management, APIs, middleware, and advanced reporting solutions.
  • Solid knowledge of cybersecurity principles, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with clients, senior business leaders, and internal teams.
  • Experience leading and mentoring high-performing teams, both directly and in matrixed environments.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and influence decision-making at all levels.
  • Client-Centric Approach: Strong understanding of client needs in financial services, ensuring applications and integrations deliver exceptional value and insights.

Qualifications and experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with a strong background in managing and supporting business applications within financial services (PE, PC, or RA preferred).
  • Proven expertise in designing and delivering bespoke, client-facing technical solutions in complex environments.
  • Extensive experience in aligning global technology strategies with local business needs to achieve scalability and efficiency.
  • Strong track record of successfully managing private markets platforms (e.g. Investran, eFront, Yardi, Viewpoint) and other cloud-based systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • Relevant certifications in project management, cloud platforms, or cybersecurity (e.g., PMP, AWS, CISSP) are advantageous.
  • Previous practical IT Application Support Management experience within a financial services business, supported by a relevant professional qualification
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and identify and deal with problems
