SUMMARY:

The Assistant Manager of IT is a pivotal leadership role responsible for both the strategic management of IT infrastructure and hands-on technical work. This position leads IT projects including cloud migrations and AI implementations while maintaining direct involvement in the operational aspects of IT systems maintenance and troubleshooting. The Assistant Manager reports directly to the IT Director, ensuring alignment of departmental strategies with organizational goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the maintenance and strategic expansion of IT infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security, with a hands-on role in managing servers, RPMS software, and telecommunication systems.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of IT projects, including migration to cloud services such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud, and integration of AI technologies.
  • Manage and optimize Microsoft SharePoint environments and provide direct support for mission-critical hardware such as email servers and network systems.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to two non-exempt IT administrators, fostering a team-oriented environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Serve as the primary IT contact for key internal stakeholders, ensuring all IT needs are met efficiently and effectively with a hands-on approach to troubleshooting and system management.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive data backup and disaster recovery plans, actively participating in the technical execution of these plans.
  • Act as the acting Manager of IT during their absence, maintaining continuity and stability within the department.
  • Lead IT audits and compliance assessments to ensure all practices meet regulatory and internal standards, with a direct role in managing specific IT systems.
  • Directly collaborate with the IT Director on all strategic IT projects and operational management to ensure department goals are aligned and achieved.
  • Assist the IT Director in managing the IT department, including overseeing team performance, conducting performance evaluations, and implementing development plans to enhance team capabilities and productivity.
  • Co-manage departmental audits and strategic resource planning with the IT Director, ensuring our IT operations maintain high standards of compliance and efficiency.
  • Maintain strong communication and collaboration across departments, ensuring IT strategies align with organizational goals and departmental needs.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; significant experience and certifications may substitute for education.
  • 7 to 10 years of relevant work experience in IT management, including hands-on technical support and strategic project management.
  • Certifications required: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, CompTIA Security+, and ITIL Certification.
  • Preferred certifications: PMP, CISSP, Certified ScrumMaster, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or Google Professional Cloud Architect, Certified Data Privacy Solutions Engineer (CDPSE), Certified Artificial Intelligence Practitioner (CAIP).
  • Strong understanding of network infrastructure, data security, and cloud computing technologies, with hands-on skills in system troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of leading teams and presenting IT strategies to executive management, while also collaborating effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Must possess a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance.
