Role Overview:

We are looking for a Domain Architect within the New York Life Corporate Technology function to deliver solution designs and architectures for key initiatives hosted in a variety of environments while considering re-use, scalability, reliability and alignment with New York Life’s vision and strategy. The role primarily will be responsible for Human Resources, Compliance, Legal and Communications functions.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead successful design and implementation of solution and technical architectures for HR, Compliance, Legal and Communications technologies by managing expectations and risks, ensuring appropriate organizational structures, principles, tools, and responsibilities.
  • Function as a bridge between technical and business audiences during solution planning, development, and deployment.
  • Potentially lead the team of solution and technical architects in large products/platforms, set the overall technology and architecture direction and own its end-to-end delivery in an architect’s capacity.

Create reliable solution plans that include cost estimates and optimized delivery approaches by working with the business and multi-disciplinary teams.

Your key responsibilities

  • Define long-term vision, architecture, technology roadmap and governance structures for HR, Compliance, Legal and Communications technologies within the organization, considering emerging trends like AI, machine learning, and automation.
  • Oversee the integration of various HR, Compliance, Legal and Communications systems (e.g., SAP, Success Factors, LMS, AML, Matter Management, Case Management, Intranet) and ensures seamless data flow across the organization.
  • Function as a bridge between business needs and technology solutions, ensuring that the organization can effectively leverage technology to achieve its strategic objectives within HR, Compliance and Communications functions.
  • Using critical thinking, consider the art of the possible, compare diverse options based on feasibility and impact, propose impactful plans and roadmaps that balance tactical and strategic needs.
  • Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Drive the adoption of new and cost-effective technologies and best practices.
  • Evaluate existing HR, Communications, Legal and Compliance applications and processes for efficiency, effectiveness, compliance and fit for business needs.
  • Contribute to the development of architecture governance structures, methodologies, and compliance activities.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders and help to create an environment which solicits positive contributions from all participants: Solution and Technical Architects, engineering teams, product manager, project managers, product analysts, test and project teams, Information Security and Operations.
  • Cultivate lasting relationships across business, IT, Procurement, and vendors / industry analysts to maintain insight into the broader enterprise as well as industry trends.
  • Deep understanding of Application, Infrastructure and security architecture and non-functional aspects like Performance, Scalability, Reliability, Availability, and other “capabilities” of a system.

 

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience in defining long-term technology vision for HR/Corporate Communications/Compliance technologies.
  • In-depth understanding of HR processes core capabilities like recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation.
  • Understanding of relevant laws, regulations (e.g., GDPR, SOX, FCPA), industry standards, and best practices
  • Experience in how Data, AI, Machine Learning and Automation can aid these areas.
  • Deep understanding of Application, Infrastructure and security architecture and non-functional aspects like Performance, Scalability, Reliability, Availability, and other “capabilities” of a system.
  • Familiarity with various HR, Communications and Compliance technologies (e.g., SAP, LMS, GRC platforms, data privacy tools, Intranet, social media, and Web 2.0)
  • Good working knowledge and understanding of the latest cloud computing and data technologies, business drivers, emerging computing trends, and deployment options.
  • Experience in negotiating contracts and manage relationships with technology vendors.
  • Demonstrate a keen interest on industry best practices and emerging technologies.
  • Conceptual and analytical skills – ability to extract, analyze, and document complex business and technical requirements/strategies.

 

Ideally, you will also have

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, IT, Mathematics, HR/Compliance related certifications, or related field preferred
  • 10+ years in a domain architect role for Human Resources / Compliance / Legal and Communications applications
  • 5+ years in a solution or technical architect role using service and hosting solutions such as private/public cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS platforms.
  • Achieved one or more of the typical solution and technical architecture certifications e.g., Microsoft, MS Azure Certification, TOGAF, AWS Cloud Certified, SAFe, PMI, and SAP
  • Considerable experience in presenting ideas, products, concept papers to varied audiences.

 

 

Preferable to have knowledge of:

 

  • Cloud security controls including tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM.
  • One or more programming and scripting languages such as JavaScript, PowerShell, Bash, SQL, .NET, Java, Python, PHP, Ruby, PERL, C++, .NET, and related Microsoft technology skills preferred.
  • Visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau and understanding of analytics tools including Azure Stream Analytics, SQL Analytics, Data Lake Analytics.

 

 

 

 

Salary range: $157,500-$237,500 

Overtime eligible: Exempt 

Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes 

Sales bonus eligible: No
