HEAnet - Security Services Manager 

 

HEAnet is Ireland’s National Research and Education Network, providing internet connectivity and ICT shared services across all levels of the Irish education system, reaching in excess of 1,000,000 end users. We connect learners and researchers across all of Ireland to education resources and to fellow national educational and research networks in Europe, and the rest of the world.  

 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Security Services Manager to join our ICT Security Services team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.  

 

This role is primarily based at our Dublin 1 offices, but we are pleased to offer a flexible remote working arrangement. This allows you to work from home up to three (3) days a week. You will be expected to work at least two (2) days a week in the office, giving you the opportunity to enjoy a balanced and dynamic work environment.  

 

What the ICT Security Services Team does

 

The ICT Security Services Team at HEAnet provides a range of essential ICT Security Services to our clients. Our goal is to offer a standardized set of core services including security awareness training, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, policy review, and development. These services support clients to maintain robust information security practices, ensuring the safety of their data and IT systems. 

 

What the Security Services Manager does

 

The Security Services Manager will manage several direct reports, providing leadership and guidance to the ICT Security Services team, to ensure the portfolio of services remains relevant to the evolving needs of our client community. You will utilise our TARGET performance measurement framework and provide feedback to team members on issues such as project delivery, response times, communication, service improvement, and technical skills, to enhance the quality of services delivered. The Security Services Manager will report directly to the Client Services Director and will work closely with colleagues across HEAnet to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of ICT Security Services to our clients. 

 

In this role, you will be responsible for the delivery and utilization of our portfolio of ICT Security Services to our client community. You will contribute to the development, maintenance, implementation and continual improvement of our services, internal processes, and procedures in line with recognized best practice frameworks. 

 

You will have a significant role in developing and influencing procedures and processes to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of your functional area. You will manage, oversee, and develop the strategy for this growing area within HEAnet. 

 

You will identify and implement a skills and certifications matrix to ensure that team members are equipped with relevant skills and certifications required. You will identify and model desirable team behaviors to achieve a high level of personal and team performance and to present a professional and highly service-oriented approach to clients and other staff.

What we need from you

 

  • Minimum of four (4) years experience in managing a leading a team of advisers/consultants that provides security services to external clients 
  • A degree or equivalent academic or professional 3rd-level qualification in an ICT discipline or similar relevant experience 
  • Security qualifications to include at least one (1) of the following: CISSP, CISM, CISA, CGEIT, ISO 27001 
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 27001 information security, cybersecurity and privacy protection — information security management systems 
  • Strong presentation skills, with experience presenting to senior management  
  • A keen eye for continuous improvement in the delivery of our services 
  • Ability to act as a trusted advisor to our clients in the Cyber Security field
  • High degree of listening as well as verbal and written communication skills with a high level of inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language 
  • Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time 
  • Proven ability to manage a substantial area providing a high-level guidance, leadership, people management and budget management 
  • Strong client-service orientation 
  • Flexibility to travel to client sites within Ireland as required
