RTX BBN solves challenging problems of high importance to our customers in the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community and Industry by rapidly prototyping systems for sensing complex physical phenomena, correlating them to events of interest, and producing high-value, actionable information from the sensed data. The team specializes in delivering networked sensor system solutions by combining a strong understanding of the underlying physics, high-fidelity modeling, simulation of complex signatures and propagation phenomenology, deep expertise in signal processing, EM and RF phenomenology, and computer science, proven capabilities in system development, and mature tools to enable rapid design cycles from theory to demonstration. We are currently searching for a highly qualified engineer to join our Advanced Electronic Warfare (EW) team in Arlington, VA or Columbia, MD.

What You Will Do

BBN is seeking an engineer knowledgeable in the radio frequency (RF) domain to join our team of electrical engineers, physicists, and mathematicians as we design and develop advanced Electronic Warfare prototype systems that exploit the RF spectrum. The selected candidate will be responsible for advancing research prototypes to meet customer requirements for Electronic Warfare (EW) and countermeasures to include real-time detection, filtering and tracking, and array processing. Areas of technical emphasis include embedded software development and RF signal processing. Additional support on programs involving range-doppler radar and synthetic aperture radar is also desirable.

Candidate may plan and supervise tasks involving 1-3 individuals for small, applied research projects where we design and implement advanced signal processing algorithms in novel hardware, implement on real-time hardware, test in a lab environment, then validate in an over-the-air field environment. The experienced Candidate will have the opportunity to present technical advancements to government customers.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Minimum education of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other relevant technical field with 5 years of experience, M.S. degree with 3 years of experience, or PhD.
  • Experience with Matlab, Python and/or C++ applied to signal processing challenges.
  • Independently executes responsibilities with limited review or supervision.
  • Takes proactive action to anticipate, understand, and meet program and customer needs.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain a security clearance is required.

Qualifications We Prefer - Familiar with all, Expert in some

  • Plans / directs / coordinates / supervises tasks and 1-2 staff within projects.
  • Position may require some amount of overnight travel.
  • An active government security clearance

The salary range for this role is 90,000 USD - 182,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
