Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager with demonstrated technical expertise in cyber security to lead group of experienced scientists/engineers within our Applied Research & Technology organization. As a technology leader, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading a portfolio of research activities focused on the security of connected aerospace systems, including avionics, controls, airports, and defense systems.  Additional responsibilities will include project execution, technology development and transition, as well the professional development of technical staff. 

As leader of the Battlespace Cyber team, the candidate will be challenged with developing novel security technology applicable across future defense systems customers as well as the capture of new DoD-funded security research. 

The person in this role should be self-motivated, serving as a key contributor to strategic planning, business development, and engagement across our businesses and customer stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess prior experience in embedded systems, network security, and software analysis.  The candidate should be comfortable to collaborate with business partners, universities, and government research organizations to identify new research opportunities and develop new technology innovations in securing cyber physical systems. 

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the strategic management of novel research and development projects in the cyber physical security

  • Manage and develop multi-disciplinary teams of hardware, software, and systems engineers to develop, integrate, and evaluate new cyber security technologies

  • Support advanced technology demonstrations delivering early customer engagement, innovation, and business impact

  • Drive technical proposal preparation and the execution of government-sponsored science and technology research

  • Cultivate strong partnerships with technology stakeholders across Collins business, customers, and external partners to ensure collaboration and strategic alignment

  • Must be willing and able to travel 10% of the time

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience 

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

  • 5+ years experience in cyber security, software design, and systems engineering

Qualifications: We Prefer:

  • Experience leading technologists in an R&D environment

  • Experience developing technologies for safety- or mission-critical embedded systems

  • Experience capturing and executing government-funded science and technology programs

  • Graduate degree in engineering, computer science, or cyber security

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles* will work primarily offsite (from home).  An employee may be expected to travel to the site location as needed.  

*This position is remote; however, if you live within a reasonable commute of a Collins site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role

The salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
