Systems and Network Security Engineer

The Opportunity:

Are you looking for an opportunity to share your experience in system security and accreditation to safeguard our nation? As a Systems and Network Security Engineer, you can understand the technical system and boundaries to develop an assessment package. You will be able to assess vulnerabilities and recommend the best solution and security strategy. We need your experience to lead the development and implementation of security solutions that will transform enterprise network solutions. You’ll use your curiosity for technology and market trends to further research and develop security solutions. Using your knowledge and experience in DoD asset accreditation, you’ll analyze the risk and recommend changes to security architectures.

In this role you’ll closely impact the U.S. Space Force by improving sensor to shooter missions. With mentoring, challenging hands-on problem-solving, and opportunities to learn new tools and skills, we focus on growing as a team to make the best solutions for our customers.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Develop relationships quickly and easily with other teams and system owners, communicating the complexities of security with a wide variety of audiences, including senior management.

  • Recommend and implement infrastructure and cyber security controls across complex network and software systems.

  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments in network, system, and application areas and leverage big data analytics and traditional security event types to identify advanced threats or indicators of compromise.

You Have:

  • 4+ years of experience with complex network, messaging, or software systems

  • 4+ years of experience with DoD asset accreditation Risk Mitigation Frameworks

  • 2+ years of experience using security tools such as the Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS) system and Nessus

  • 2+ years of experience with the system engineering lifecycle, including requirements, design, development, integration, testing, and deployment

  • Knowledge of software deployments, cloud hosting environments, computer networking concepts and protocols, and network security methodologies

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity principals, cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and remediation techniques

  • Knowledge of risk management processes, including documenting, assessing, and mitigating risks to closure

  • Secret clearance

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Information Technology, Information Assurance, or Information Security

  • IAT Level II Certification, including Security+ Certification

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience with U.S. Space Force

  • Experience with cross-domain technologies and accreditation

  • Knowledge of DoD cloud infrastructure and DevSecOps security tools

  • Knowledge of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and Committee on National Security Systems Instruction, including NIST SP 800-60, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-37, and CNSSI 1253

  • Knowledge of DoD 5000.01 and 5000.02

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies and collaboration tools

  • Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills to interface with security stakeholders and client system owners

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • Master’s degree in a technical field, including Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics

  • IAT Level III Network Certification, including CCNP-Security Certification, or IAT Level III Security Certification, including CISSP or CISM Certification

Clearance:

Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $75,600.00 to $172,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
