About the Role
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will focus on malware analysis and contribute to building a knowledge base about malware and ransomware behavior which in turn will help build data security products. You will assist in analyzing threats, implementing mitigation strategies, and supporting the development of security features. This role is ideal for engineers eager to grow their expertise in cybersecurity and collaborate with senior engineers.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Expertise
- Support the setup and maintenance of a malware analysis lab.
- Conduct basic malware analysis, including static and dynamic techniques, to understand malware behavior.
- Assist in identifying Indicators of Compromise (IOCs) and Indicators of Attack (IOAs).
- Analyze how ransomware and other threats impact cloud systems and SaaS platforms under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Participate in creating basic detection and mitigation strategies for identified threats.
- Stay informed about cybersecurity trends and best practices.
Communication & Collaboration
- Document technical findings in clear reports for internal use.
- Seek guidance and learn from senior team members to improve skills and technical expertise.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate threat intelligence findings into security processes.
Key Skills & Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in malware analysis, threat research, or related areas.
- Basic understanding of malware analysis techniques (static and dynamic analysis).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and SaaS systems like M365.
- Exposure to tools like firewalls, IDS/IPS, and sandboxing technologies.
- Strong eagerness to learn and grow in the cybersecurity domain.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
