The Role

Reporting to the Manager of SAET (Security Architecture Engineering Team), the Principal Security Engineer will be responsible for the successful implementation of security-related projects. Drawing on your experience, you will help influence and grow AspenTech’s security program. Being self-motivated and able to diagnose problem(s), recommend industry best practice solutions, and following through to issue completion. Working closely with business stakeholders to identify and remediate security gaps, you will develop processes to meet system security and operational objectives.

Your Impact

  • Identify security risks across the enterprise and help develop solutions to remediate or mitigate those risks.
  • Evaluate security tools to meet business requirements and recommend best practices for the reduction of risk.
  • Recommend changes to Information Technology architecture, policies, and operating procedures to maximize information security.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of current information security issues and be able to communicate relevant details to stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and mentor other team members in information security best practices.
  • Respond to potential incidents as a member of the incident response team.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in computer science or equivalent discipline from an accredited college or university required.
  • 10+ years of experience in an information security role or experience with security and network devices and software.
  • A relevant information security certification is preferred, including CISSP, ISSAP, CISA, SSCP, CEH, Security+.
  • Proven experience planning and executing enterprise-wide security projects and initiatives.
  • “Own the problem” and work an issue to resolution. Ability to assume responsibility and to work with minimal day-to-day supervision.
  • Strong analytic and reasoning skills. 
  • Constantly curious and dedicated to expanding knowledge and experience.
  • Maintain an understanding of information security standards including NIST and other information security frameworks.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with people from all organizational levels.
  • Experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, NDR, network forensics, and other security technologies. 
  • Experience with cloud solutions such as Azure and AWS preferred. 
  • Experience with security policies and procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
