Job summary

As a Security Architect, you will play an important role in designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures to safeguard the organization's environment. This is an entry-level Security Architecture role perfect for candidates with engineering background and some experience with Azure cloud services. The Security Architect will support the Cloud Security Architect in ensuring our on-premises and IaaS, PaaS, SaaS environments maintain robust security standards.

Chaucer is a hybrid organisation with beautiful offices over three floors in the Scalpel, London. 

Main duties

  • Assist in designing and implementing secure solutions in hybrid legacy on-premises as well as IaaS, PaaS, SaaS environments, primarily Microsoft Azure.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security best practices are considered into initial design and implementation.

  • Ensure technical functions work within the defined security architectures and security standards.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational security policies.

  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and address potential vulnerabilities.

  • Support the development and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and documentation.

  • Stay current on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies.

Skills & Competencies

  • Understanding of cloud security principles and practices.

  • Some hands-on experience with Azure cloud services.

  • Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., ISO 27001, CIS, NIST

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Eagerness to learn and grow.

  • Demonstrated some understand of Azure Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), the Azure Well Architected Framework (WAF), and the Microsoft Cybersecurity Reference Architectures (MCRA)

  • Understanding in Azure DevOps, particularly securing of CI/CD processes when delivering infrastructure, application and data services through pipeline.

  • Knowledge of securing data platforms, from transitioned on-premises database migrations (e.g., Azure SQL) to self-hosted API management tools with exposure to public services

  • Familiarity with compliance & security standards across the enterprise IT landscape

  • Experience with the broader enterprise architecture and working as part of a cross-functional team to implement solutions

  • Experience representing technical viewpoints to diverse audiences and in making timely and prudent technical risk decisions

  • Structured, organized, self-motivated and proactive

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and professional demeanour

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills

  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

  • Good at working both independently and in teams

  • Adaptable to a pressured, fast-paced environment

  • Demonstrated ability to be reliable and flexible
