JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a highly motivated and pragmatic Global Security Engineer to play a critical role in shaping and implementing secure engineering practices across our organization. This is a new role, offering the opportunity to define the position and drive significant impact while ensuring security best practices align seamlessly with business priorities. This role emphasizes a learn-by-doing approach, requiring an agile and incremental mindset, comfortable iterating and adapting as we discover optimal solutions.
The focus of this role will be on establishing robust security standards and best practices for our proprietary technology and AI use cases. We will implement these best practices step by step, iteratively refining them based on experience and feedback.
The Global Security Engineer will be part of the Systems team at Dept Holding BV. Being part of our shared services center, you will play a key role in creating secure engineering processes in line with industry best practices (ISO 27001:2022) requirements and standardizing security engineering processes while working closely with different teams. This role will be reporting directly to the Global Head of IT.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Standardize, and implement secure engineering practices across our proprietary technology while considering client-specific and business-specific requirements.
- Act as a liaison between technical teams and management/compliance, effectively translating complex security concepts into clear, business-friendly language and vice versa.
- Champion governance and compliance initiatives while maintaining the necessary flexibility for our business and employees.
- Partner with engineering teams to seamlessly integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Evaluate and recommend security tools to support the SDL and other security initiatives.
- Assess current security practices and recommend standardized improvements.
- Engage with stakeholders across different departments to ensure alignment between security policies and business objectives.
- Deliver guidance and training to technical staff on secure engineering.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Approximately 3-5 years of technical experience in secure software development, security engineering, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR, SOC 2) and their practical application in software engineering..
- Experience working in a fast-paced, client-oriented environment.
- A proactive, self-starter mentality with the ability and motivation to implement security policies and standardize security processes from the ground up.
- Ability to identify challenges, persuade and align diverse stakeholders toward common goals.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to translate technical security requirements into business terms and vice versa, and to influence and align diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with AI/ML security best practices and/or penetration testing is a plus.
