About the role

As Chime’s Internal Audit & SOX IT Senior, you will play a key role in implementing a world-class SOX program and contributing to the broader internal audit function. This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with process and control owners across the organization to ensure compliance with SOX requirements while also performing risk-based internal audits to support operational and strategic objectives. This role will involve testing, evaluation, and risk assessment activities for SOX compliance and broader internal audit initiatives.

The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $103,680.00 and up to $144,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.

In this role, you can expect to (responsibilities)

  • Lead IT SOX coordination and walkthroughs with management and external auditors to ensure appropriate control design and identification of key IT controls.
  • Own the IT portion of the SOX program roadmap— manage on-going maintenance and accuracy of RCMs, coordinate testing of ITGCs/ITACs, manage evidence requests, monitor status, and communicate progress to stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Plan and execute IT-focused internal audits and assessments, evaluating the effectiveness of technology controls, ensuring alignment with risk management strategies, and identifying control gaps.
  • Consult with IT and Engineering teams to assess the severity of any identified deficiencies, determine appropriate remediation, and track progress to resolution.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to IT, Engineering, and other business functions—ensuring consistent communication, collaboration, and partnership on all control-related initiatives.
  • Assess changes in systems, applications, infrastructure, and people that may affect internal controls over financial reporting; provide guidance on SOX impact, control design, and training.
  • Continuously evaluate and implement new tools or methodologies (e.g., AuditBoard, data analytics) to optimize the IT Audit function and drive program efficiency.

To thrive in this role, you have(requirements)

  • 3+ years of IT SOX experience in a public company environment; proven track record managing IT control design assessment, testing, remediation, and follow-up. Relevant certifications in auditing are preferred (i.e. CIA, CISA, CISSP or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, PCAOB Auditing Standards, and the COSO framework. Experience with modern IT environments (e.g., cloud-based systems, DevOps) is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex IT concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Proven success leading projects and mentoring junior team members.
  • Experience managing external auditor relationships, orchestrating audit timelines, and supporting internal cross-functional teams.
  • Exceptional ability to juggle multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude toward change; thrives in environments where problem-solving and innovation are paramount.
  • Familiarity with SQL, Python, or data visualization tools (e.g., Looker) for data-driven audit approaches; experience with AuditBoard or other GRC software platforms.
