The Cloud Platform Team at SAS empowers product teams to build cloud-native solutions while enhancing the developer experience and providing a robust platform for innovation. We support teams organized in value streams across multiple products. Cloud Platform Team is divided into sub-teams that focus on different areas such as Cloud, Kubernetes and Developer experience. 

The Cloud Platform Team in SAS provides various capabilities to enable our product teams to build cloud-native solutions with greater developer experience and provide them with cloud platform to innovate. We support our product teams who are organized in value streams with several products. The Cloud Platform Team is segregated into several sub-teams which focus on different areas. 

Job Description:

As a Security Engineer in the Cloud Platform Team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing security strategies, policies, and procedures to protect against potential risks and vulnerabilities. You will work closely with product teams and fellow security experts to promote security best practices and ensure our standards are met. 

In this role, you will lead the integration of security practices into the cloud infrastructure and throughout the software development lifecycle, aiming to minimize friction while strengthening the organization’s overall security posture. 

Challenges you will work on:

• Drive adoption of security practices like DDoS protection, CSPM, and Cloud Native Application Protection to secure cloud environments. 
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and threat modeling to prepare for security incidents. 
• Collaborate with Cloud Platform sub-teams to integrate security into cloud infrastructure services at every stage. 
• Work with cross-functional teams to implement security best practices and adopt secure development practices, emphasizing “shifting security left.” 
• Stay updated on cyber threats, trends, and technologies, offering recommendations to enhance security. 
• Provide security guidance and training to Cloud Platform teams and stakeholders. 
• Support compliance with regulatory requirements, audits, and information security policies. 
• Foster a culture of security awareness across the organization. 

To be successful, we believe you have:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field. 
• 3+ years in IT security roles. 
• Strong understanding of cybersecurity practices for protecting cloud infrastructure and applications. 
• Hands-on experience with cloud security and application security best practices. 
• Knowledge of cloud security frameworks (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and practices. 
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and Containerization security best practices, tools and standards. 
• Familiar with GDPR, NIS2, and ISO 27001/2 regulatory standards. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. 
• Proactive problem solver with a data-driven mindset. 
• Keen to expand knowledge and consistently enhance security practices. 
• Team player with a positive attitude, passionate about cybersecurity.
