Position Summary
The F5 Global Cyber Defense and Intelligence team within the Office of the CISO is seeking a highly skilled IT/Digital Forensics professional to manage our digital forensics and investigations lab, maintain tooling, and participate in forensic imaging. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in digital forensics, with a deep understanding of both Windows and Mac operating systems. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, organizational skills, and the ability to maintain a lab environment and consistent tooling.
This position is based in Seattle and will follow a hybrid work schedule with the need for someone to be onsite at least 30 days per quarter.
What you'll do:
Lab Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the digital forensics lab, ensuring it is fully operational and compliant with industry standards.
- Manage lab equipment, software, and hardware, including procurement, installation, maintenance, and upgrades.
- Develop and implement lab policies and procedures to maintain a secure and efficient environment.
- Develop and implement backup solutions across lab environment and case management.
- Coordinate lab access and usage, including scheduling and resource allocation.
- Update and maintain documentation related to lab usage, networking, and procurement.
Tooling Management:
- Stay up-to-date with the latest digital forensics tools and technologies.
- Help to configure and maintain the F5 case management system, ensuring patches are applied, and reports for metrics can be run.
- Evaluate and implement new tools as needed to enhance the team's capabilities to conduct investigations.
- Maintain and update existing forensic tools, investigation tools, and software which include but are not limited to Nimbus, Crowdstrike, Axiom, and FTK Imager
- Update and maintain documentation related to tool usage and playbooks/runbooks for investigation processes
- Provide support to forensic investigators on tool usage.
Golden Image Management and Forensic imaging :
- Create and maintain a robust digital forensics golden image for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Ensure the golden image is up-to-date with the latest patches and security updates.
- Test and validate the golden image to verify its integrity and functionality.
- Incident Response:
- Provide technical support during digital forensics investigations as needed.
- Collaborate with investigators and our legal/HR partners to ensure the lab meets their needs.
- Contribute to the development of forensic investigation methodologies and best practices.
- Take forensic images of windows and mac drives as needed and requested by the F5 legal team.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3- 5 years of experience in digital forensics, including hands-on experience with forensic tools and techniques.
- Minimum of 3 - 5 years in an IT or similar setting which includes a light networking background, ability to create and execute on architecture diagrams, and install/maintain on prem systems.
- Expert-level knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems, including their file systems and forensic analysis.
- Strong understanding of digital forensics methodologies and best practices.
- Experience with forensic imaging and data acquisition tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Bonus Points
- Certifications in digital forensics (e.g., Certified Forensic Examiner, Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator).
- Experience with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
- Knowledge of network forensics and incident response.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

The annual base pay for this position is: $114,418.00 - $171,628.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
