Job Summary
As a key member of the Security Management team, the Event Security Manager, Risk and Compliance will assist in planning, coordinating, and managing assigned event security related functions within Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Home Depot Backyard, and private events. including supporting the 24/7 building security team. This position will assist with the implementation and execution of policies and procedures for the efficient and safe operation of Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Home Deport Backyard, and private events, as well as assist with continued development, implementation, and maintenance of physical security measures and technology relevant to a professional sports venue and in compliance with the NFL and MLS Best Practices for Stadium Security and Department of Homeland Security Safety Act. The Event Security Manager, Risk and Compliance, will be responsible for the threat and risk measurements of the stadium and all events. The Event Security Manager, Risk and Compliance will also lead compliance efforts and manage a robust quality assurance program to becoming an industry leading facility within the industry. Consistent compliance and management of the DHS Safety Act Certification process as well as the timely and accurate management of required and requested legal documents and follow up. Essential Functions
- Provide support and oversight during assigned events and work closely with the contract event security provider and MBS public safety team during events to identify potential or existing security risks to the overall operation.
- Supervise event security for assigned ancillary events such as Atlanta United FC, Atlanta Falcons, Chick-Fil-A Kickoff, SEC Championship and other events, including events in HDBY and private events.
- Provides expert security and public safety advice and technical expertise to department heads and upper management including input to proposal development and security plans.
- Demonstrates close relationships with event managers and clients to ensure cohesive working relationships.
- Utilize audit and assessments to improve performance and for continuous improvement.
- Briefs senior management on status of Risk and Compliance issues and operations.
- Identifies potential or existing event-based security risks to the overall organization and presents those risks for resolution.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of ownership, executives, other departments, and vendor partners.
- Develop and implement thorough threat and risk assessments for both the property and events
- Administer security measures and provide operational support to Security Management, ensuring a safe environment for everyone.
- Audit and measure policies and procedures to maintain consistency and a high performing program.
- Liaise with Directors and Human Resources to ensure company-wide compliance with all guidelines and policies.
- Keep effective and thorough records; track all security-related incidents for data purposes
- Administer and oversee a Quality Assurance Program with scheduling and follow up of corrective action plans and Red Team audits.
- Ensure security measures comply with State, and federal requirements.
- Develop and administer general security training and awareness through tabletop exercises, threat trainings, and security skill set drills
- Assist in the preparation and management of the department’s operating budget and contribute to the development of annual capital budget
- Update and audit all Documents, SOPs and Post Orders to maintain current compliance.
- Aid in the planning of special events, large scale events and playoffs
- Participate in special projects and perform other related duties as requested
- Manage and oversee the 24/7 incident tracking software platform.
- Coordinate the SOC schedule and staff management of SOC
- Handle MLS and NFL post event and event related required security reporting.
- Oversee the Code of Conduct violation database and upkeep.
- Oversee the Emergency Response Team Calendar of events and consistent follow ups with department leaders.
- Update and audit functions for all Safety Act compliance submissions and requirements.
Recommended Qualifications
- A minimum education level of: BA/BS Degree (4-year) in related field
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in sport and special event security, risk management or related field preferably in hospitality/professional sports/facility management industry
- Previous effective leadership experience and a self-starter
- Proven ability to listen, understand and communicate effectively
- Strong experience in strategic planning and creating security and safety focused programs
- Ability to enhance and lead a positive and encouraging work environment
- Skilled at building positive, professional relationships both inside and outside of the organization
- Understanding of audit process and quality assurance programs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and act with diplomacy and discretion
- Work in compliance with State laws and local policies
- Available to work evenings and weekends as required including a potentially non-traditional work schedule.
- Strong project management ability and follow through.
- Strong communication skills to administer rules, policies, training and other security programs.
