ABOUT THIS JOB

The IT Infrastructure Architect position at the City of Tucson’s Information Technology (IT) Department designs, implements and maintains information systems that support the City’s enterprise infrastructure, anticipates future IT industry trends and incorporates them into architecture design to remain valuable information solution providers for the city.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Information Technology/Chief Information officer (CIO). This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyzes existing systems to ensure they provide the necessary security and capability, meeting the needs of the organization. Ensures that overall system performance meets department Identifies business requirements and incorporates new hardware, operating systems or connectivity solutions to meet requirements.

  • Actively participates in the design and review process of new systems. Collaborates with project managers, business owners, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) implementing new solutions. Develops, tests and documents proposed changes that need to be implemented or integrated across the City’s infrastructure.

  • Formulates detailed plans for integrating new systems into the existing core infrastructure, including, logistic plans for conducting physical integration of hardware and providing technical direction and support throughout the process.

  • Evaluates new systems that have been integrated into the City’s infrastructure, ensuring standards and governance for IT solutions. Provides feedback to the City and incorporates all gathered information into future integration plans.

  • Monitors the overall health of the infrastructure, performs remedial actions, maintains visual documentation of systems such as network, servers, telecom, outside plant, and security, and participates in incident response.

  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned. Develops and provides formal training in areas of expertise. Maintains knowledge of current developments and practices in information technology. 

Working Conditions:

Mostly office environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree
Experience: Five (5) years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Education:
Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
Work Experience:
Five (6) years of directly related work experience.
Certifications:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
Security+
Project+ or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)
ITIL 4 Foundation
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)
The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF)
Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence (EACOE)
Service Oriented Architecture (SOA)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
Lean Six Sigma – Green Belt (LSSGB)
