Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Space Systems is searching for an Associate Engineer Systems Safety or Engineer Systems Safety to join the Systems Safety Engineering team within the Launch Vehicles business unit to support the Sentinel Program in Chandler, AZ.
The Sentinel Program System Safety Engineer is responsible for performing System Safety Engineering tasks and development of key range safety deliverables, and support system safety activities including ground safety, range safety and flight safety throughout the Sentinel program life cycle.
Responsibilities:
At Northrop Grumman Launch Vehicles, System Safety Engineering is involved in all phases of a program life cycle, from proposal generation to launch operations.
System Safety Engineering interfaces with the various Ranges to ensure that our launch vehicles meet range safety requirements while providing high reliability to the customer.
Work with a small team of System Safety engineers to apply the systems engineering process in defining, implementing and verifying System and Range Safety requirements to ensure that the inherent risks are mitigated.
Apply the systems engineering process to define and verify launch vehicle and ground support equipment requirements to ensure safe operations and conduct system safety analyses to architect and implement a safe and robust system.
System Safety Engineers are responsible for understanding the entire mission, including the launch vehicle, payload, ground support equipment, range infrastructure and range safety interfaces.
System Safety Engineers are expected to understand how the different components, subsystems, systems and integrated launch vehicle function and interact, with a focus on System Safety.
Develops safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements and assist with defining, tracking, and gathering safety requirements verification artifacts.
This position may be offered at the Associate Engineer Systems Safety Level 1 or may be offered at the Engineer Systems Safety Level 2.
Basic Qualifications:
If offered at the Associate Engineer System Safety level 1 requires:
- 0 Years with Bachelors in Science; or in lieu of degree must have 4 years of directly related sys safety range experience is required.
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- The ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills required to communicate with all levels from internal employees to customers.
- This position requires 100% in office work.
If offered at the Engineer System Safety level 2 requires:
- 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; Masters degree plus 0 years of experience or in lieu of degree must have 6 years of directly related system and/or range safety experience is required
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- The ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance is required.
- Experience with systems engineering processes.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills required to communicate with all levels from internal employees to customers.
- This position requires 100% in office work.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Mil-Std-882E System Safety requirements
- Experience with tailoring and implementing SSCMAN-91-710
- Experience with launch vehicle system design, testing, or mission operations
- Experience in launch vehicle Flight Termination and Range Tracking System design, integration, testing, and evaluation per Range Commanders Council (RCC) 319 and 324, respectively
- Active Security Clearance is preferred
Salary Range: $58,200.00 - $87,200.00Salary Range 2: $70,200.00 - $105,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
