Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Cybersecurity & IT Instructor to join our team! In this role you will get to educate and train DoD customers on various IT and cybersecurity topics. The ideal candidate must be comfortable teaching groups, possess a strong IT background, and be knowledgeable and demonstrate expertise in multiple technical domains. This position requires the ability to travel and provide hands-on, engaging instruction.
What You’ll be Doing:
Key responsibilities of the Cybersecurity & IT Instructor role include:
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction on IT and cybersecurity topics in a classroom or field environment.
- Develop course materials, presentations, and hands-on labs related to computer security, networking, and digital forensics.
- Provide real-world examples and practical demonstrations of IT security tools and concepts.
- Train individuals on various cybersecurity and IT subjects, including:
- Operating Systems & Software: Ubuntu, Linux commands, Windows Office Suite
- Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics: Computer viruses and malware, cyber threats, electronic information security, Security+ and Network+ concepts, basic computer forensics, forensic artifacts, non-forensic searching on computers, metadata analysis and removal, steganography
- Networking & Wireless Security: 802.11, networking basics, OSI model, computer network topologies, wireless security, wireless encryption types, WiFi survey tools, firewalls, VPNs
- Data Storage & Protection: Data storage principles, magnetic hard drives, flash memory, file deletion and recovery tools
- Secure Communication & Virtualization: Bootable drives, secure emails, virtualization software (VMs), safe internet browsing, FTP
- Conduct practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises using tools such as Kismet, WiFi survey tools, forensic analysis software, and cybersecurity assessment tools.
- Evaluate student performance and provide feedback for improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging IT security trends and update course content as necessary.
What Required Skills You’ll Bring:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, IT, or a related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
- Certifications: Security+ and/or Network+ certification preferred. CEH, CISSP, or other cybersecurity-related certifications are a plus.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in IT, cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Prior experience in teaching, training, or technical instruction preferred.
- Ability to travel up to 50% for training events.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Linux (Ubuntu), Windows, networking fundamentals, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Experience with security tools (e.g., Kismet, WiFi survey tools, forensic software).
- Strong understanding of file systems, forensic artifacts, and secure deletion methods.
- Knowledge of steganography, metadata, and encryption techniques.
- Understanding of firewalls, VPNs, and secure internet browsing best practices.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed for training sessions.
What Desired Skills You’ll Bring:
- Experience with instructional design, curriculum development, or e-learning platforms.
- Military or government cybersecurity training experience.
- Hands-on experience with penetration testing tools and techniques.
