What you’ll be doing

The purpose of this position is to support the Global Privacy Office mandate and core strategies, primarily in the area of Reporting and Governance services.  This individual is a privacy subject expert, has an analytical mindset, excellent communication and reporting capabilities and is capable of developing relationships to monitor and support privacy governance across the organization.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How you’ll succeed

  • Privacy expertise - As the subject matter expert in privacy, you will gather data, analyze the data and report key metrics internally and with executive level stakeholders across the organization. You will have frequent collaboration with regional privacy team members, lines of business contacts and will develop strong relationships across the organization. 
  • Program governance - Participate in the ongoing review of monitoring and oversight mechanisms to ensure compliance to Privacy.  You will participate in reviewing CIBC’s privacy governance practices and revising processes and policies to build a strong privacy program.  You will gather, write, organize and interpret data/information to formulate appropriate conclusions and prepare communications and reports for senior members of the organization.   
  • Privacy issues records- Extensive analytics required on privacy issue records globally to identify common trends, root causes and key risk issues. Make sense of conflicting or inconsistent information or data.
  • Coordination and Execution- Preparing and coordinating the execution of all executive, monthly, issue trend summaries, global privacy risk management reporting and annual board reporting. Assuming general responsibility for managing and leading internal process enhancements / implement changes impacting the Global Privacy Office, including information data management. 
  • Stakeholder Management- Supporting Senior Director, Global Privacy Program Governance and Associate Vice President, Privacy on strategic and tactical privacy activities as required, including planning and developing Privacy resource materials and tools including web-content, privacy library, job aids, roadshows, etc. Establishing strong working relationships with key stakeholders and business partners on privacy matters.  Participate the orientation process of new employees to Global Privacy Office.

  • You can demonstrate experience in supporting regulatory and compliance requirements applicable to a Bank and experience in communicating and reporting on regulatory changes. You have experience in reviewing and implementing policies, guidelines or procedures to meet regulatory obligations. It’s an asset if you have minimum five years of working experience in privacy, compliance, risk management, audit, legal or other governance group in the financial services industry. 
  • You are driven by collective success.  You know that collaboration with the businesses and cross functional groups is critical to the success of managing privacy risk and finding the right solutions for our clients and or employees.   You know that relationships and networks are essential to success.
  • You’re a certified professional.  You hold a privacy designation with the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or will acquire within the first year.
