  • Parramatta location, flexible working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, ranging from $ 178,493 to $202,201 + super and leave loading (EO 15)

 

Our Corporate Services Division within Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking to fill the role of Chief Information Security Officer within their Corporate ICT branch.

 

About the role

As the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for DCCEEW, you will lead the development and implementation of a robust cybersecurity strategy, ensuring the protection of critical information assets across shared ICT services environments leveraged by the Department. Collaborating with multiple service providers and key stakeholders, you will drive security governance, risk management, and compliance to safeguard systems and data assets. Your expertise will guide the integration of security frameworks, incident response protocols, and emerging threat mitigation strategies to support business objectives while maintaining regulatory and industry best practices.

 

About You

You will have a proven track record in successfully leading a cyber-security function within a complex organisation, including playing a pivotal role in setting up new security operating models leveraging internal and external security service providers. You will also confidently demonstrate the ability to lead, develop and communicate innovative ICT policies, standards, training and compliance systems to drive awareness and secure use of data and systems. 

Your communication skills will be highly developed as you will be responsible for reporting on information security matters to DCCEEW’s senior executive team and leading participation in the Enterprise Risk Management process to ensure representation of DCCEEW ICT considerations. The successful applicant in this role will be someone who is strategic, innovative, adaptable, passionate and wants to make positive change. You will be a subject matter expert who can build a new team driving improved security and supporting the delivery of complex program of works for DCCEEW.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Appropriate Tertiary qualifications in computer science, information and technology or related technical field and/or relevant experience.
  • Experience/Knowledge of the NSW Government compliance requirements and other security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, Australian Signal Directorate (ASD) and the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework
