POSITION SUMMARY
The Security Engineer will work closely with the VP of Network Infrastructure, Network Services, and other CU*Answers teams to discover, raise awareness, and remediate vulnerabilities detected in the environment. The position will manage the vulnerability management program for CU*Answers which includes operation of industry standard tools and remediation of vulnerabilities through direct action or coordination with relevant teams.
The position will work to enhance CU*Answers security posture by reviewing and implementing security best practices throughout the network. The position will improve incident response by developing response playbooks to various incident types as well as coordinating response during an incident. This is an in-office position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and scans using industry-standard tools to identify security weaknesses.
- Analyze and prioritize vulnerabilities based on risk level and potential impact to the organization.
- Collaborate with various teams to remediate vulnerabilities and track progress.
- Research emerging threats and vulnerabilities to proactively enhance security measures.
- Work with management to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and reports related to vulnerability management.
Security Incident Response:
- Monitor security alerts and incidents, investigating and responding promptly to minimize impact.
- Perform analysis and root cause determination of security incidents.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to contain and remediate security threats.
- Document and communicate incident findings, response actions, and lessons learned.
- Participate in security awareness training and exercises to improve response capabilities.
General Security Operations:
- Assist in the development and implementation of security policies, standards, and best practices.
- Stay current with evolving cybersecurity trends, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Support security compliance initiatives, including audits and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve overall cybersecurity resilience.
- Participate in cybersecurity committee meetings and furnish reports illustrating the organization’s ongoing cyber efforts.
Job Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent is required.
- Two-year business-related degree or equivalent work experience is preferred.
- Experience and comfort working with computer software; ability to learn and explore new software independently.
- Experience with the Tenable One platform is preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with credit union operations, regulations and procedures, accounting and balancing functions preferred but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to deal with external clients as well as internal staff.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to use discretion when dealing with sensitive or confidential data.
- Valid drivers license required.
