Software Development Engineer II
Are you a driven Software Development Engineer eager to own, enhance, and create solutions with cutting-edge technologies? Are you passionate about developing a real-time detection platform that scales to meet EG Security requirements? At Expedia, the Security team is dedicated to safeguarding our company with solutions focused on Cybersecurity Incident Detection and Response (including cyber-attacks), Security Vulnerability Management, and Security Compliance. Our in-house monitoring and Big Data processing platform processes over 6 billion security events per day and forms the backbone of our Cybersecurity Incident handling.
We are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our Development Center team and drive forward technology solutions that enhance our ability to detect and prevent EG Cybersecurity issues. In this role, you will design and develop integrated software solutions to analyze secure logs from across all Expedia brands on a global scale and create and maintain a reporting user interface. You will be responsible for building highly available systems that can handle hundreds of millions of log events, as well as implementing advanced techniques for global security detection and mitigation. Join us in leveraging the latest technologies to safeguard our business, our customers, and our partners and to fortify the EG Security pillar.
What you’ll do:
Collaborate with business and technical teams to solve complex problems
Design and develop scalable, low-latency services and solutions
Create resilient, fault tolerant, highly available systems
Have a strong eye for the operational aspects of the platform like monitoring and alarming.
Influence engineering best practices within your sub-team and across the Platform team
Who you are:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related technical fields; or equivalent related professional experience
Approximately 2+ years of experience in software development (SDLC) preferably on SOA
Coding proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java preferably, React, Python etc.) and exposure to RBDMS/NoSQL solutions
Strong object-oriented programming concepts and background in data structures and algorithms
Experience with automated testing including unit, functional, integration & performance/load testing
Experience of using cloud services (e.g. AWS)
Excellent organizational and communication skills
Experience working with Agile/Scrum methodologies
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative and fast paced environment
Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Experience with Security tools/applications is a plus
