About the role

We are looking for an Associate Platform Engineer to support in operating Nominet's Edge Platform as it moves into a fully managed production service. Your primary responsibility will be supporting with the maintenance of the platform infrastructure, keeping the platform efficient and secure using established processes to ensure that it runs optimally, shaping it into a robust Private cloud PaaS. 

Responsibilities may also include promptly responding to alerts, monitoring, and fulfilling service requests from internal customers and their applications hosted on the platform.

Additionally, you will contribute to the migration of legacy services and the adoption of new services to the platform as it becomes a cornerstone of the company’s business. 

About you and your experience:

• Working knowledge of the latest Linux operating systems, patching and familiarity with RedHat network fundamentals. 

• Familiarity with automation methodologies, such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC), with experience in Ansible or equivalent automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Puppet, etc.). 

• Experience with enterprise-grade monitoring solutions like CheckMK, Zabbix, Nagios 
• Basic understanding of networking fundamentals, such as routing, switching, load balancing, firewalling and LAN separation. 
• Familiarity with scripting languages e.g. Python, Perl, or Bash. 
• Knowledge of ITIL and Linux and networking operations and security best practices.
