Summary

ValidaTek is seeking a highly qualified Senior Software Engineer to support a United States Coast Guard (USCG) program.  Support services include cross collaboration between USCG, DHS and DoD offices, software application and engineering, application operations and maintenance.  Further, the Senior Software Engineer will be required to work collaboratively with other contractors and federal personnel outside of USCG and DHS. 

 

The Senior Software Engineer will operate on site and be the central POC for the government on all development issues associated with the program.  They will apply knowledge of and experience with engineering principles and techniques to provide system architecture support services for United States Coast Guard (USCG. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing scalable, secure, and high-performing software solutions that align with USCG mission objectives. The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with development teams, stakeholders, and leadership to ensure technical excellence and adherence to Agile best practices.  The Senior Software Engineer will be a technical leader who designs and oversees the architecture of software systems to solve specific USCG mission issues, by carefully selecting technologies, considering scalability, and ensuring alignment with mission objectives. 

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop solutions to complex application problems, system administration issues, or network concerns through the U.S. Coast Guard Agile Software development practice.
  • Experience deploying production enterprise applications
  • Collaborate with Agile teams, including developers, product owners, and government stakeholders, to define system requirements and design scalable solutions.
  • Ensure alignment of technical solutions with USCG enterprise architecture, security standards, and mission needs.
  • Perform systems management and integration functions.
  • Support DevSecOps implementation, ensuring CI/CD pipelines, automation, and security best practices are embedded in the development lifecycle.
  • Experience with full stack engineering (defined as proficient in database development/integration as well as server and client application development/integration)
  • Provide guidance on microservices architecture, cloud-native solutions, and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker.
  • Participate in developing new software solution concepts and related enterprise logistics systems utilizing Agile Software Development principles.
  • Experience in large-scale, high-performance enterprise application deployment and solution architecture on complex heterogeneous environments.
  • Oversee integration efforts between legacy systems, cloud-based services, and modern applications.
  • Develop software standards for use with software tools/solutions to improve system stability.
  • Manage and incorporate industry proven technology for asset logistic support solutions.
  • Identify standard processes for support of software developed organically or acquired by other means (GOTS, COTS, etc.).
  • Experience with automation and engineering tasks, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) implementation, Low-Code, No-Code, and security engineer tasks.
  • Support enterprise applications through evaluation of alternative solutions to meet customer requirements and USCG modernization efforts.
  • Develop technical documentation, including system designs, architecture diagrams, and security compliance reports
  • Lead technical discussions and provide mentorship to development teams in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning and retrospectives.
  • Monitor system performance and scalability, proactively identifying and addressing technical challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD, DHS, and USCG security policies and governance frameworks.
  • Participate in internal validation documentation including technical specifications, special instructions, and regression test plans.
  • Debug software and identify required corrections to meet specified requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or associate degree in Computer Science, Math, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or IT Certification.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Must be able to obtain DHS/EOD suitability. Active DHS/EOD suitability – preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in software engineering related to front-end and back-end applications and/or data services to include:
    • Experience with full stack engineering (defined as proficient in database development/integration as well as server and client application development/integration)
    • Experience deploying production enterprise applications.
    • Experience in large-scale, high-performance enterprise application deployment and solution architecture on complex heterogeneous environments.
    • Experience with automation and engineering tasks, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) implementation, Low-Code, No-Code, and security engineer tasks.
    • Experience in DevSecOps and cloud environments.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, SAFe, Kanban).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Expertise in containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps tools such as GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Terraform, or Ansible.
  • Strong knowledge of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL solutions.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity best practices (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP compliance).
  • Experience with U.S. Coast Guard or DoD systems is a plus.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Developer, CISSP, or SAFe Practitioner are a plus.

Posted Min Pay Rate

USD $130,000.00/Yr.

Posted Max Pay Rate

USD $160,000.00/Yr.

Salary Disclosure

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, geographic location, contract affordability, internal equity, education, and certifications. The upper end of the salary range may be reserved for individuals who have demonstrated tenure with the company, seniority, and proven excellent performance. This includes factors such as education, certifications, and extensive/unique experience beyond what is required.
