Annual Salary Range: Up to $220,000 plus Super

About the Opportunity
The Head of Quality Assurance (QA) defines, implements, and improves VicRoads’ QA strategy to ensure high-quality, scalable, and secure digital products. Reporting to the Group Head Digital & Applications, this role oversees all testing functions—manual, automated, performance, and security—within Agile and waterfall methodologies.
Leading a team of Test Managers and QA professionals, the Head of QA drives best practices, fosters continuous improvement, and integrates QA into the delivery pipeline. Collaborating with engineering, product, and DevOps teams, this role ensures applications meet performance, security, and compliance standards.
By tracking key quality metrics, the Head of QA provides actionable insights, optimizes testing frameworks, and ensures QA processes remain efficient and adaptable. This role is critical in maintaining the integrity, security, and reliability of VicRoads’ digital solutions.
- Strategy & Framework: Develop and implement a QA strategy for manual, automated, performance, and security testing. Lead automated testing framework selection, manage security testing (SAST, DAST, penetration), and ensure compliance with standards. Align with Agile methodologies and the development lifecycle.
- QA Practice: Oversee performance testing to assess system scalability, define benchmarks, and address bottlenecks. Ensure continuous integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline and ensure products meet security and regulatory requirements..
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to integrate QA into projects and serve as the main contact for QA discussions and escalations.
- Leadership Lead and mentor a team of QA professionals, fostering a culture of quality and innovation. Educate the business on the importance of best practice QA processes.
- Continuous Improvement & Reporting: Promote continuous improvement by refining QA processes to align with industry trends and organizational needs. Establish and monitor key QA metrics, providing insights to leadership. Conduct root cause analysis for defects and implement preventive measures.
About you
You are dedicated to ensuring privacy and data security, actively managing risks and promoting a culture of integrity. With strong leadership skills, you lead QA teams, influence stakeholders, and ensure compliance with privacy and security standards, including SAST, DAST, and penetration testing.
You have extensive experience in performance and load testing, resolving bottlenecks, and using tools like Selenium, JMeter, and OWASP ZAP. Skilled in high-compliance industries and Agile environments, you integrate QA seamlessly into development processes while tracking and improving quality metrics.
You bring knowledge of cloud platforms, microservices architectures, and Australian compliance regulations. Your experience extends to optimizing QA through emerging tools like AI-based testing and compliance reporting.
- Implementation: Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing automated testing frameworks, performance testing tools, and security testing strategies
- Certified: You are certified in software testing (ISTQB Advanced Test Manager or CSQA) and security (CISSP or CEH), with knowledge of ITIL frameworks. You also hold a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
