Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Manager Electronics Engineering 3 - Field Response Engineering Manager to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in either Rancho Bernardo, CA, Oklahoma City, OK, Palmdale, CA or El Segundo, CA.

Under the direction and leadership of the Operating Unit Engineering Program Manager, the Field Response Engineering Manager will work with their team to provide real-time and post-operation engineering support to the field, coordinate with all stakeholders to drive the resolution of field technical challenges and report technical issues to development colleagues and leadership to improve the long-term performance of the system. Candidate will define the structure of the field response team and drive process improvements across their individual team and flow up to enterprise leadership when required.

This leader will manage a diverse multi-disciplinary team of engineers and help coordinate between other teams internal and external, internal leadership, and the customer to ensure proactive management, execution, risk reduction, and opportunity capture in support operations as directed by the customer and internal leadership. He/she will also coordinate and lead preparation of presentation materials to support customer status review, Program Integration Reviews, and proposal efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Engineering manager and CAM for ~40 EP comprised of 20 EP fulltime employees and a small percent of 20 EP across all engineering disciplines.

  • Manage cross-discipline technical groups and supervise all aspects of the work including leading field engineers and coordinating with responsible engineering personnel for resolution of technical anomalies

  • Responsible for identification of technical trends within a specified SOW coupled with the development of strategic plans to address any repeat technical deficiencies

  • Lead field engineering teams to operate independently at customer facilities, with remote guidance and technical assistance as needed.

  • Autonomously define path to a repair or resolution by using NGC drawings and documented processes. The repair path is unique for each task based on the problem presented and is communicated to the customer and management. Tasking may require re-prioritization to achieve critical objectives, deadlines and milestones.

  • Required to develop and manage TPMs for system performance and engineering response times. Manages the team to keep with TPMs within positive threshold

  • Coordinate cross-functionally with engineering and maintenance to ensure systems remain capable.

  • Provides technical support to field during the installation, modification, troubleshooting, repair and test of systems

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility.  There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience

  • 5+ years of leadership experience and managing engineers

  • Active in-Scope, DoD Top Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current Special Program Access

  • Experience as a cost account manager or similar

  • Experience working technical manuals, system maintenance or creating engineering dispositions

  • Cross-discipline engineering experience

  • Cross-lifecycle engineering experience

  • Experience with software and hardware engineering

  • Previous experience coordinating aspects of program execution including planning, baselining, and implementation across multiple teams.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.

Salary Range: $153,000.00 - $280,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
