Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting our Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a program out of either our Fairfax, VA  or Linthicum MD offices.

Roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Deploy/test monthly patch updates to Linux/Window machines

  • Deploy, manage, maintain, and support Microsoft Window servers and workstations

  • Create and configure VMs with VMWare vSphere

  • Create user accounts and administer user privileges within active directory

  • Deploy/test monthly patch updates (rpms) to RHEL servers

  • Assist with implementation of automated processes or functions to improve daily operations as directed

  • Assist with implementation of technical security technology and IT projects

  • Manage/Deploy AV server and client products

  • Integrate updated management/monitoring tools

  • Collaborate in authoring system documentation and procedures

This position will be located at either our Fairfax Virginia or Linthicum Maryland locations.

This position requires being onsite and does not support remote or hybrid work. 

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) security clearance at the time of application

  • Minimum years of experience needed to be considered:

    • 8 Years of relevant experience with a completed Bachelor's

    • 6 Years of relevant experience with a completed Masters's

    • 4 Years of relevant experience with a completed Ph.D.

    • 10 Years of relevant experience with a completed associate’s degree

    • 12 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a completed degree (High School diploma or equivalent is required)

  • Must have experience on all of the below:

    • Experience with Linux System Administration including management, configuration and patching

    • Experience with Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) implementations

    • Experience writing automated Linux scripts using languages such as Bash, PERL, Python, and/or Java

    • Experience with COTS package upgrades and software deployments

    • Must have a Security+ certification or equivalent certification for DoD 8570 compliance (maintaining the required certification will be a condition of continued employment)

    • Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud systems and deployments (Lambda, CloudFormation)

  • Knowledge of PKI Certificate based authentication / Single Sign-On

  • Knowledge of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Cyber Security

  • Knowledge Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, WebLogic DNS and databases (Oracle, SQL Server, RedShift, others)

  • Knowledge of web services setup

  • Knowledge of networking and communications

Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
