We are looking for a highly skilled Application Security Specialist with expertise in Microsoft Defender to join our security team. In this role, you will be responsible for protecting our applications from security threats by leveraging Microsoft Defender's advanced security features. You will work closely with development, IT, and security teams to ensure our applications are secure and compliant with industry standards.
This position will be onsite in Los Angeles, CA, 3 days per week (Tues, Wed, Thurs).

Work You'll Do:

  • Implement and manage security measures for applications using Microsoft Defender.
  • Conduct security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Monitor and respond to security incidents and alerts generated by Microsoft Defender.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate security best practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Develop and maintain security policies, procedures, and documentation related to application security.
  • Provide guidance and training to development and IT teams on secure coding practices and the use of Microsoft Defender.
  • Stay updated on the latest security threats, trends, and technologies related to application security and Microsoft Defender.
  • Perform regular security audits and compliance checks to ensure adherence to industry standards and regulations.

What You'll Do:

  • Proven experience as an Application Security Specialist or similar role with a focus on Microsoft Defender.
  • Experience with whitelisting and blacklisting applications in an enterprise environment
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Defender and its security features.
  • Strong understanding of application security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with security assessment tools and techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals are a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with secure coding practices and code review processes.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and frameworks such as OWASP, NIST, and ISO 27001.
  • Knowledge of scripting and automation tools to enhance security operations.

Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors.
