The Role
As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking an Information Security Engineer to support our SecOps team. The Information Security Engineer will focus on manufacturing security architecture, engineering and implementation of solutions. This role is a hands-on position which delivers cyber security expertise on manufacturing secure designs, standards, solution engineering, projects and lifecycle management activities. You must be a strong influencer, focusing on how best to implement and operationalize manufacturing security best practices with industry best practices, architecture and design. This position is ideally suited to a self-motivated, team-player capable of operating with minimal levels of supervision and capable of delivering on results.
This position is open to work in a hybrid schedule out of our San Diego, CA, Raritan, NJ, or Rochester, NY office (1-2 days onsite).
The Position
- Providing technical security expertise for QuidelOrtho’s global enterprise.
- Allocate approximately 60% of time to manufacturing Information Security initiatives (challenges, projects, tasks) and 40% with Security Architecture/Engineering on enterprise security tasks, projects, and tools.
- Responsible for serving as a manufacturing security subject matter expert, collaborating with manufacturing and QuidelOrtho leaders to architect solutions for cyber-related challenges while supporting existing and new business initiatives.
- Engage with projects and one-off requests for security engineering and solution architecting.
- Collaborate with IT and business teams to resolve technical challenges and develop tailored solutions.
- Translate security-related system and software architecture into design and implementation by applying Ortho Information Security policies, standards, and guidelines.
- Develop and deploy robust security controls across QuidelOrtho’s manufacturing and IT infrastructure, aligning with organizational policies and standards.
- Stay informed about security industry trends and incidents, evaluate emerging technologies to align with business objectives, and facilitate knowledge sharing of security best practices across cross-functional team.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
The Individual
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, with a preference in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline; or equivalent experience related to the role.
- Years of Experience - Minimum of 2 years’ experience required with emphasis on IT technical security control systems in an enterprise manufacturing environment
- Experience with security tools, security services, firewalls, routers, switches and IP subnetting
- Experience with technical solution engineering for complex environments and designs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate in a clear, focused and concise manner.
- Passion for technology, security, and working with people.
- Independent thinking, willingness to "step outside the box" and take reasonable, calculated risks.
- Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to work as a team to solve problems and incorporate input from various sources
- High level of personal integrity, ability to professionally handle confidential matters, and reflect appropriate level of judgement and maturity is required.
- High degree of initiative, dependability, and ability to work with little supervision.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.
Preferred:
- Experience with security architecture using the NIST framework and PURDUE model.
- Technical knowledge in one of the following areas Networking technology (firewall, router, VLAN, switches, IP subnetting, WAN)
- Manufacturing environments
- SCADA, HMI, PLC systems
- NIST SP 800-82-R3, CSWP-28, SP-1800-10
- Windows/Linux servers
- Windows 10/11
- Web applications, Apache or Tomcat
- Virtual servers, VMWare, Nutanix
The Key Stakeholders
Internal Partners:
- Resources across all of operations to design, build, implement and operationalize required security controls.
- Resources across IT, including IT Operations, required to design, build,
implement and operationalize required security controls.
External Partners:
- Work with various security technology vendors as well as third parties such as distributors as needed.
- Possible when security controls require additional vendor assistance or involvement across our supply chain.
The Work Environment
No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Minimal travel required. Travel includes airplane, automobile travel and overnight hotel.
Salary Transparency
The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time), and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
