Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an extremely well-qualified Senior Lead VMWare Systems Administrator and subject matter expert to join its dynamic team of technical professionals in Linthicum, MD and Annapolis Junction, MD.  Please note that the selected candidate will be required to work on-site, full-time, with time split between our Linthicum, MD and Annapolis Junction, MD campuses, and that this is not a remote work opportunity.  Roles and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Perform as consulting Senior Lead VMWare Administrator and subject matter expert for large, and classified government contracts.

  • Obtain and analyze internal and external customer requirements, recommend equipment and software as needed, and oversee system implementation and accreditation.

  • Navigate complex system configurations and implement enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.

  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed.

  • Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and system components.

  • Adhere to strict Information Systems security guidelines in all cases.

  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders in written and verbal formats.

  • Ensure all aspects of large IT projects are tracked and completed independently or assigned to others as necessary

  • Develop and maintain technical processes and procedures as needed.

  • Provide surge support to other programs as needed.

  • Travel as needed.

  • Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.

  • Work after hours and weekends as needed.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree with 16 years of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with 14 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 12 years of experience, or a PhD with 10 years of experience; a High School diploma or equivalent with 18 years of experience may be considered in lieu of a completed degree.

  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in VMWare enterprise implementation, migration, and maintenance.

  • Expertise in operating under and managing systems within current applicable information systems compliance standards.

  • 8 or more years of experience as a technical lead.

Additional Technical Requirements:

  • Experience with NetApp and/or Nutanix implementation, migration, and maintenance.

  • Experience configuring and administering patch deployment and management systems.

  • Experience configuring, monitoring, and administering backup and recovery solutions and providing recovery status reporting to management.

  • Experience writing scripts (e.g., Batch, Bash, PowerShell, Python) to automate tasks.

  • Experience with system design and architecture.

  • Experience writing standard operating procedure documentation and developing system cold-start documentation.

  • Expertise in configuring, administering, and maintaining Windows and Linux Servers (such as Windows 10+, Windows Server 2016+, and RedHat Enterprise Linux 7+).

  • Experience operating under and managing systems within NISPOM Chapter 8, DCID 6/3-ICD 503, RMF, STIG, JAFAN, or JSIG information system environments.

Clearance and Access Requirements:

  • Candidates must have a current Top Secret level security clearance, to include SCI access and a recent polygraph (adjudicated within the last 5 years), or must be enrolled in the Continuous Evaluation (CE) Program, to be considered; the required security clearance must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

  • The selected candidate must agree to submit and successfully complete a polygraph reexamination as a condition to retain access to special program(s), and as a condition of continued employment.

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs as a condition of continued employment.

Non-Technical Abilities and Certification Requirements:

  • Current Security+ CE, CASP, CISSP, or similar security certification; certification must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

  • Experience mentoring junior level IT professionals.

  • Experience giving technical presentations to technical and non-technical attendees, including executive leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certifications (highly desire Data Center Virtualization).

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in IS related field.

  • Identity Management (Single Sign-On) experience.

  • Other active vendor-based IT certifications.

Salary Range: $171,000.00 - $256,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
