Information Security Program Improvement Analyst

The opportunity 

Working in a highly effective, mature Global Information Security Program requires a constant focus on continuous improvement. Information Security is a cornerstone of any modern business, and a dedicated Program Improvement team is essential for driving ongoing success. 

The role of an Information Security Program Improvement Analyst is responsible for applying their experience in service and process management to apply the skills needed to improve important areas of an Information Security Program such as: 

  • Service management and program maturity assessments, 

  • Process improvement analysis and planning & recommendations, 

  • Customer experience analysis and improvement planning, and 

  • Assisting in the delivery of strategic initiatives to promote continuous improvement of the Program. 

As a Program Improvement Analyst, you will work with a team of other IT Service Management (ITSM) professionals responsible for managing the framework for service management related to EY's security services. This role demands a deep understanding of ITSM best practices and process re-engineering.  A large part of the role is applying your analytical skills examining the current security program elements such as security processes, knowledge management, and service management compliance and conducting analysis to continually make improvement recommendations.  Subsequently, the role includes the ability to interact with process and services owners and guiding them on methodology and best practices in revising/reinventing/re-engineering their processes, customer experiences, and overall service health. 

 

Key Experiences and Skills: 

  • Process Optimization: Analyzing and optimizing existing security processes to enhance efficiency, effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. 

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with service and process owners to implement new security processes and procedures, ensuring alignment with business and security objectives.  Influencing owners is an instrumental part of this role.  While operational teams mainly implement and follow processes, reviewing the processes, recommending improvements, and collaborating and working to influence change is essential to the success of this role. 

  • Team Cohesion: Work with team members of the Program Improvement team contributing to a positive, supportive, and productive work environment. 

  • Customer Centricity: Prioritize customer needs and ensure that security processes are user-friendly, efficient, measured, and aligned with the firm's business strategy. 

By effectively being a team member of the Program Improvement team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the ongoing success and security of the firm's operations. 

Essential Functions of the Job: 

  • Conducting research and analyses of operational effectiveness, processes, stakeholders to continuously develop improvement plans 

  • Conducting research and analyses on emerging approaches to customer satisfaction which will evolve the Information Security Program 

  • Work with service owners in Information Security, Enterprise Technology, and Client Technology to understand new directions and technology adoption; work with stakeholders to integrate customer experience goals and process efficiencies 

  • Participate in the analysis of short and long-range business requirements and recommend security strategies, solutions and approaches that anticipate the future impact of evolving business services, technologies, and client security requirements 

  • Taking market trends in security and customer experience and applying information to current services and processes 

  • Planning, implementing and managing proposed recommendations and research projects 

  • Monitoring and reporting on projects and their effectiveness to the improvement of the Information Security Program 

Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:  

Successful professionals are those who can effectively leverage their analytical and decision-making skills to drive innovation, solve problems, and achieve organizational goals.  As a team member in the Information Security Program Improvement team, you will be expected to: 

  • Apply ITSM best practices to assist in reviewing, recommending and applying improvement objectives with service and process owners 

  • Understand and apply an appropriate balance of firm security needs with service impact and benefit 

  • Ability to recommend and influence advancements in security strategy and objectives 

Knowledge and Skills Requirements: 

The knowledge or skills needed to perform this job are: 

  • Research and analytical skills applying service management methodology and practices to Information Security services and processes 

  • Stakeholder and relationship management within Information Security and across EY Technology 

  • Ability to influence change through metrics driven data analysis and persuasive discussion 

  • Managing and facilitating multiple team member inputs arriving at the appropriate decision to recommend future state security improvements 

  • Maintain, update and continuously evolve the IS service management framework and process improvement framework 

  • Builds and maintains appropriate relationships with service and processes owners to ensure awareness and understanding of the IS service management framework and its role in program improvement 

  • A high proficiency in technical and general writing skills in English is required

  • Strong English language skills are required both written and spoken 

  • Some travel may be required for meetings, etc. 

Job Requirements: 

Education: 

University level Bachelor’s or Masters is required 

Experience: 

A minimum of 10 years working in a professional IT-related setting is required 

5 years minimum working as a subject matter expert in ITIL, Six Sigma, or other process improvement field 

Certification Requirements: 

ITIL or Six Sigma certification is preferred but not required 

CISSP or CISA certification is preferred but not required
