Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to join our faculty as a Professor of Practice in Cyber Security and Outreach in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECpE) in the College of Engineering or the Department of Computer Science (ComSci) in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the field of Cyber Security and a passion for teaching and engaging with the broader community. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact at the university and in the field of Cyber Security.
This is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track position with competitive compensation and benefits. The initial appointments will be for 3 years with the potential for renewal.

Responsibilities:
Teach and develop undergraduate courses in Cyber Security
Mentor students and provide guidance for their academic and career goals
Engage in outreach activities to raise awareness of Cyber Security and its importance in society
Collaborate with industry partners to bring real-world experience to the classroom
Participate in departmental and university-wide committees and initiatives
Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert in Cyber Security for the university and broader community
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in engineering, computer science, or related discipline.
Evidence of impactful career in professional practice outside of traditional academic roles, as defined by departmental criteria, that qualifies them to provide faculty and students with an understanding of the contemporary practice in a particular field of study.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s or Ph.D. in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
A minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of Cyber Security, with a strong understanding of current and emerging trends
Ability to teach a wide range of Cyber Security topics, including but not limited to, network security, cryptography, and cybercrime
Proven track record of teaching and outreach in Cyber Security
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a wide range of audiences
Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, industry partners, and the broader community
About the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Iowa State University is home to over 60 faculty and is associated with 12 research centers and institutes. The department boasts 20 IEEE Fellows, over $16M in research expenditures, and one of the largest ECpE enrollments in the nation.
