Mac Engineering Senior Manager

Capital One is looking for a Senior level Mac Platform Engineer to join our Associate Experience Endpoint Engineering team. The Mac platform has grown to support over 30,000 Mac computers in recent years, as one of the fastest growing physical platforms at Capital One. The senior engineering role will be focused on reviewing new solutions, interacting with stakeholders on new initiatives, platform improvements and serving as an escalation point for our Mac Engineering team.

Responsibilities:

• Influence Cyber and Network product roadmaps to maximize the associate experience

• Engage in testing/provide input when new technology is being considered or introduced

• Work with architecture teams to champion new patterns to improve our user experiences and enhance security

• Serve as a board resource for certifying and approving platform-impacting changes

• Provide well grounded and actionable recommendations to senior leadership

• Handle several projects simultaneously, balancing your time to maximize impact

• Work across stakeholders and groups to resolve technology impediments to project delivery commitments

• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

• Assisting other engineers and our Problem Management teams with troubleshooting complex end user issues that are pervasive in the enterprise, and driving problems to resolution.

• Assist with testing and validation of new software, agents, and configuration changes the engineering team is planning to deploy

• You have the ability to foster collaborative, open, working relationships with technology groups and other stakeholders, including vendor relationships 

• You have demonstrated clear communication skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels of an organization, and to influence senior management and executives (Including translating technical information based on specific audiences)

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification

• At least 5 years of experience utilizing managing macOS devices 

• At least 5 years of experience using packaging tools (Jamf Composer, Apple's package utility (pkgutil), or Suspicious Package)

• At least 5 years of experience developing Shell scripts, AppleScript, or Python scripts

• At least 3 years of experience with Apple System and Network Extension Frameworks, Logging Subsystems, Triaging techniques

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Jamf Pro Certifications (Jamf Pro 300 or 400)

• Experience in a financial services organization 

• Working knowledge of Cyber, Network, and Identity solutions 

• 2 or more professional certifications (SAFe PM/PO, CISSP, GIAC, CISM, CCSP, AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Security) 

• 3+ years of experience in an Agile environment

• 3+ years of experience using alerting and monitoring tools to monitor fleet performance at scale

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $193,000 - $220,300 for Sr. Lead Platform Engineer

 

Plano, TX: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Lead Platform Engineer

 

Richmond, VA: $175,500 - $200,300 for Sr. Lead Platform Engineer

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
