We’re looking for a passionate Director of Risk, Control and Compliance to join our Group Finance Risk, Controls and Compliance team! You will be accountable for Finance risk, Controls and Compliance framework and developing appropriate processes to support active risk management and coordinating the activities of the CFO Function second line of defence teams. Champion a strong and mature culture of risk management ensuring that CFO Function effectively manages the risks it needs to take to deliver its mission.

 

This role is based out of our Strand or Warwick office, and we’d hope to see you at least two days per week but you’re welcome to be in the office more often if that would work best for you. We’re happy to discuss any additional flexibility in working patterns or requirements that you feel could help to make this job work for you!

What You'll Do

  • Preparing and presenting in various Group Finance Committees such Global Controls Forum, FLT Risk Committee and coordinate reporting and governance process.
  • Applies detailed knowledge and understanding of risk management and assessment techniques to develop risk assessments across a variety of financial processes and an awareness of their broader use in non-financial areas.
  • Key point of contact and SME for all Finance compliance returns, Certificate of Assurance, Fraud & Bribery etc.
  • Lead SME conversation and technical conversations on risk management topics.
  • Lead specific assurance reviews in the CFO function including APMs, RBR etc.
  • Provide assurance to National Grid management that sufficient controls are appropriately designed and operated to mitigate key CFO Principal risks.
  • Driving continuous improvement, innovation and effective risk, control, compliance, and assurance transformation as well as defining and enabling best practices across the Finance function.
  • Providing risk management and controls advisory support to develop the first line processes and control environment, risk management training awareness and drive a strong controls culture.  Being responsible for coordinating our risk and compliance frameworks.

What You'll Have

  • Professional qualification / membership of a professional body such as CPA, ICAEW, ACCA, CISA, CISM and possess a detailed understanding of enterprise risk management and compliance activities within a regulated environment.
  • Strong stakeholder experience - engage with stakeholders at all levels to achieve desired outcome and effectively manage key internal/external stakeholder relationships extracting maximum value for National Grid.
  • Demonstrate detailed knowledge of Enterprise Risk Management and its best practice and impact on financial reporting.
  • Good working knowledge of SAP S/4HANA and SAP GRC tool highly desirable.
  • Detailed understanding of the “three lines” model and experience of driving meaningful partnerships across the three lines.
  • Experience of a regulated utility.
  • Knowledge of Internal Controls best practices and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) environment.
